For what it's worth, I've had a wood boring insect problem in my lumber shed resolve itself over a very cold winter... temps below 0F and colder for a few weeks.

a few entomologists I have spoken with state that cold won't kill the bugs and only with heat can we be sure. But I'm with you it does seem that some stupid cold temps would do the trick.

Most manufacturers will list the solution on the package. Look into Armor Guard by Perma Chink Solutions. They make another product with Glycol for deeper penetration but when you already have sawn boards Armor Guard should be just fine. About $20 I think for a bag of powder.
