Awesome result Anthony! I love the artistic look. Fascinating to get into your thought process during these edits, and to see the tools you throw at the image. (And you do throw a lot!) I also learned a great new hack to on how to back down in Supercontrast--a 50% brush mask. Absolutely brilliant!

Amazing edit! I recently took a photo I had of some prickly pear cactus blooms and used Luminar Neo to make one of them look like a painting.
@matthewisaacs4537 Жыл бұрын
It definitely helps when you go into the edit with the mindset that you're going for something artistic versus realistic. It frees you up to push some sliders a bit past where you might put them normally, and adding in some tools that you wouldn't usually use in the first place. As for masking the vignette, I don't have Neo in front of me at the moment, but can't you move the vignette around the photo? So couldn't you move it off-center so it is only affecting 3 of the 4 corners of the photo? Or if that doesn't work, could you add another layer, add the vignette to that layer, and then use the Layer tool for masking? Anyway, excellent photo and edit, as usual! Reminds me a bit of the Oregon coastline, or parts of northern California. I prefer the rocky, rough western United States Pacific coastline vs the more calm and sandy east coast Atlantic.

Nice work - I was just disturbed by the whole image being on the wonk!
@AnthonyTurnham Жыл бұрын
I read your comment and then went back to the file, and I'm not convinced that it is on the wonk. The rocks had a natural lean and the water being higher on the right is just the turbulent waves naturally sitting higher than the swell on the left. I always appreciate knowing how others are seeing and interpreting the photos though. Cheers 😀

Thanks Anthony. I enjoy these videos, especially your creative edits. I am pleased with the updates for Neo and the direction they have taken the program. What list of features and improvements would you like to add ? I would like a lasso tool for selecting objects.

Hey Anthony great video's, enjoy them immensely! I just got the program today, I'm looking forward to, hopefully, trying to improve my photos. I started taking pictures in the 70s and, a few years ago went digital . I've been trying to learn Adobe for the past couple of years but it's not working for me! I think NEO might work for me. I hope you don't mind me saying...I thought that the sun rays in this picture are coming from the wrong location. ....maybe , at the bottom of the mountain side to tie in to where the sun appears to be setting. IMO ONLY! ?

I absolutely love your videos. Ive been using a mouse for all my editing and it faster for me. I recentlt switch to a pen tablet and it is not as fast or as easy. It would be great if you could do a video about how u use your wacom or pen tablet in luminar. Im currently using a huion inspiroy dial 2. It was cheaper and i didnt want to spend $400 dollar on a wacom not knowing if i would like it or not. Thank you for all your great videos.

Interesting ... As I make boo boos with light, over exposure etc as I hone in my techniques of photography, Neo is a helpful tool. And yes - a keen eye can spot the skies and moons as I've seen in some photos of the Poolbeg chimneys here in Dublin, Ireland. As for the Topaz labs hmmm I'll try the free versions first I think ... Great video

Hey Anthony, great video. I just have a question that since I'm new to NEO I'm sure is no big deal but I can't figure out how you got a layer out of the HDR stack. When I run mine no new layer is created therefore I'm stuck with the full adjustment. I've searched on this topic but I don't seem to be able to find out how to create that layer with the HDR adjustment so that it can be tamed down. Thanks a lot
@AnthonyTurnham Жыл бұрын
Hi mate. Neo spits the HDR version into the pictures folder. You need to add it in as a new layer with the plus ➕️ icon on the left. Navigate to the new file and open it. I've covered it in a couple of vids but I don't recall which ones.

Excellent tutorial! Thank you! I have a quick question. Hello! A while back I purchased the Skies bundle that was offered. Is there a way of installing all the skies without crippling my system? The size of these skies is massive. Can I keep them on an external and still use them in Luminar Neo?
@AnthonyTurnham Жыл бұрын
Skylum don't recommend having them all pre-installed for that very reason. I still rely on a thumbnail iew in Explorer and looking for the one I want that way. Not ideal I know.
@omnirhythm Жыл бұрын
As a rule of thumb, if not going for a photo contest which requires minimal intervention, there aren't (m)any rules to adhere to. Go crazy, have fun, you have unlimited undo steps and don't even have to save the result :)

@AnthonyTurnham does Neo's upscaling feature end up doing some of the same things as Gigapixel from Topaz?
@AnthonyTurnham11 ай бұрын
Hi David, In my opinion bit.ly/gigapixel-ai does a superior job. But in essence the concept is the same, using AI to upscale our photos.

When using the shift key to draw a straight line using the brush, can you also change the brush size between the clicks to make the sunray look more natural and realistic?
@AnthonyTurnham Жыл бұрын
I don't believe so. It's the same size at the start and finish. A transition between two sizes would be great though!
@michalsiegel6717 Жыл бұрын
@@AnthonyTurnhamThank you for the reply! I agree, such a possibility would be great. You could hardly tell it wasn't there even after close examination of the photo.

Anthony, have you done a video on Neo's AI cropping criteria? Like, how it picks the subject, what limbs to cut off on people, etc? Sometimes, I scratch my head at why it crops photos the way it does.
@AnthonyTurnham Жыл бұрын
I haven't, but tbh I always go with my own crop rather that what the AI thinks makes for a good crop. I'm not a fan of its decision making on that.
@myfakeguuglaccount8307 Жыл бұрын
@@AnthonyTurnham Well, there's some fodder for a future video, at least. Thanks. I was wondering if I was a little nuts on my cropping rules.

Please make a video on how to make thumbnails using Luminar Neo, its very hectic process in PS compared to Luminar Neo as you can use AI tools to fast up process. Please and love your content.
@AnthonyTurnham Жыл бұрын
While thumbnails are possible, the issue you may have is it's not a text editor, so if you wanted to add a title on the graphic you can't really do that. Unless your title exists as a graphic.
@amitnatty4923 Жыл бұрын
@@AnthonyTurnham Alright then, I've keyword researched how to make thumbnails and keyword was trending, as well as how to make thumbnails like Mr. Beast using Photoshop. You can show us how we can supercharge Photoshop with Luminar Neo to ease our process. We face problems like background removal, how to stack images, and how to make thumbnail photos so intense that people click them. Then you can show us how to add text and everything else on PS. Thank you.

I am back with using Photoshop 2023 as my main editing application with generative fill and the new beta is just mind blowing. Don't think Luminar comes close to it. Loved watching your videos. You should bring in some PS videos now.. It is the topic everyone is excited about. Photoshop now rules the world of photo editing with true AI. 😊👍🏻✅

I love editing with Photoshop and have done some recorded edits quite a while back. Hmmm maybe I'll start bringing it back. My only concern is whenever I release a non-luminar video it never performs as well and I also lose a raft of subscribers too. But I'll definitely give it consideration :)
