I'm a huge fan of your channel. Your content is fantastic, very cleanly presented and professional looking. Battle reports are great and when edited properly (season of war / battleshock wargaming etc) they are fun to watch. I'm glad we're moving away from sentinals tbh, too many of my games were relied on them getting the damage in. Great video and thanks again!

Really nice video and content once again mate! While Teclis lists are not my cup of tea this is one list that can really take advantage of Alumnia! And Laurie is a very very good player and an awesome dude! I have played against him two times in 2019 in tournaments (one of which he came 3rd) when he was running his Sylvaneth and I was playing my Stormcast/Idoneth and he beat me both times! :-) p.s. The claim the field ability can be spammed on the same unit to create even more powerful effects!

About claim the field.. I'll have to reread the rule but it didnt sound like that to me. Makes it a lot stronger though.

@@strategoi I also own Sylvaneth too! The second time we played it was in the final GT of 2019 in warhammer world.. He got 3rd place and I got 9th with my Idoneth! Fun times! @@strategoi This is from the core rules FAQ! Q: Some abilities stipulate that you can pick a certain number of units to be affected by the ability. When this is the case, can I pick the same unit several times? A: Yes, unless the ability specifically states otherwise. So according to this you can use claim the field multiple times on the same unit. :-)

Hi ! Nice explanation of an unexpected Lumineth playstyle ! I'd also like to know how Laurie opens the game: as you can't have 2 speed of Hysh nor 2 Forward to victory: - do Teclis "vortex" the 20-pack and then hopes for a 9" charge (with reroll) to get 50 Wardens into Turn 1 combat, - or are they supposed to get in melee during turn 2 (then, the 10 pack can conquer an objective, and the Dawnriders can be the second unit to fight turn 1 if there's a good target to pick. And I wonder if Teclis' Protection can be the 1 spell you choose to mesure the effect from the portal instead of the caster (to protect the 30-pack until the lifeswarm can be cast near them)

Yes, it'd be great to hear from his perspective. I think you don't necessarily need to get them all into combat turn 1, but it is an option with the Teleport. Apparently you can also move the same unit several times with Alumnia (core rules FAQ states you can choose the same unit for effects like that). So that would basically ve a second Speed of Hysh. As for the portals, I don't think that would work. It says once per turn you can measure.. So I'm guessing for aura's, that's a no-go, as you measure a lot of times when checking if they're within an aura. It's not 100% clear though.

The Calligrave also has a once-per-battle ability ('Realmscribe') which can grant a 9" bubble of no battleshock for lumineth units - it also grants +1 to cast/unbind too.

Great vid, Alumnia is my fav subfaction, especially if you want to play aggro or even if you want to be techy, being able to move even if you don’t get first turn is a great ability and can give you the edge in a lot of situations. I’m doing a little project on changes I’d make to LRL, and I’d love to pick your brain about a couple of things if you have the time

Love this list! Teclis being the general is also a very good choice because you will deny "Bring it down" (or "Slay the Warlord")... I've got a question tho: can you choose to NOT make Dawnriders battleline, to deny yet another battle tactic ("Broken Ranks") to your oppo?

yes you can, only mandatory battleline is Warden, else are choices

In the book it says: For each Warden unit you can make one... - so yes, it's not mandatory. The app also gives you the choice. The annoying thing is that the warscroll builder forces you to make them Battleline.

Yep, it's a great concept! I think Sentinels will still be present but I've never Ran 30, and now I feel it's also better to stick to just 20.

Why would you want to alpha strike though? Yes against some armies that might me good (Kragnos f.e.) but losing that -1 to hit is a big no no for me. Plus if you sit on an objectif his own screen stands in his way. Furthermore you chip away with the spell portal and storm of searing white light

Good points of course, but in a tournament setting, you really want to take away as many pieces as you can. Spellportal and Storm only do so much. I've noticed they are less effective lately with the abundance of wards or spell ignores. The meta right now is flooded with stormdrake guard, who don't care about your -1 and ignore spells on a 4+. Of course it depends on matchups, but I can think of quite a few where alphastriking would be to my advantage. You could always set them up again with Teclis's Teleport as well.

You do know that you can choose the same unit up to 3 times with Claim the field right? That block of 30 can walk 18" before game start. If you want to put all 50 in their zone walk the 30 12" and the 20 6". Then speed of hysh the 20 block. Now both units have moved 18" up the field before running. With some minor positioning you can still get your free cp from the tower so one unit can auto run 6. But now you have 50 wardens in there face empowered and angry.
