Super Metroid has one of the best soundtracks of any videogame out there, so I decided it would be cool to recreate it in high fidelity using hardware synthesizers. It's been a fun project and I hope you enjoy it!

I love the little details like the ever-so-slightly out-of-tune treble line at 0:22. As if it's saying hey, I know it's catchy and all, but don't get too comfortable - this is _Metroid_ you know.

Best Brinstar Green I've heard. Fits the game. If you took what the SNES song "meant to be" and realized it, you get this.

Geeeez man, this is top shelf. Really clean production, and an amazingly unique yet authentic texture. You've done awesome stuff in the mixing and mastering side of this. Those reverb settings are JUUUUST right. I haven't seen you round on the tubes much, have you introduced yourself to any one doing this sort of work? I think people like Ace Waters and Steven Morris would really appreciate the work you're doing.

This gives me the same goosebumps I got the first time I went down that elevator back in the 90's. From the desolation of the surface world to the strangeness of a subterranean fungal jungle, a perfect moment in the game and this is a great rendition!

matrixsynth Well, the people that hate Patreon users appear to hate them because they think it's users may not deserve to be paid for the work. In Luminist's case for example, those people might argue that, because Luminist did not compose the Metroid music him/herself, he/she shouldn't be paid for these arrangements of the music. It's a bullshit argument though, because Patreon works like donations (as I understand it), but sometimes people get irrationally angry over it. I guess I should clarify, I'd love it if Luminist opened a Patreon. I was making a sort of joke is all.

Some genuine criticism: There's way too much general EQ applied at 3Kish. You can even hear it on the bass in the beginning. Red Soil sounds a lot better.

the wooden sounding percussion is samples from a Buchla Music Easel (www.residentadvisor.net/feed/96161) and the hats / snare are samples from Wave Alchemy's MS20 Drum pack. it's all got extra layers of processing in the track (distortion, filters, delays etc)
