I doubt that. It is a fast solution but there are still render engines out there like Corona and Fstorm who still develop as well and are pretty competitive.

@@femtokun well,if u look at fstorm gallery for ex,u will see all the pictures have been post prodoucted ,real grass,sky,... with photoshop,thats why they look real,but here u can build everything inside,hence u can do also post prodcoutions,thats why they might look more realistic

It is perfect.. Lumion will one day replace vray... Sorry to all of u who worship vray.. As technology improves.. U should not want to spend hours or days rendering anything... The world is moving more towards SPEED... and real time rendering programs like Lumion will take over. Great job lumion. I ha e been using this program for years.. Ive never touched it before but the entire software just seemed magical. When i showed it to my architecture teacher he asked r u sure u r gonna need all that. I still have the same question in mind. I work for an IT service provider and a crap ton of our clients are architects. Making software like Lumion or Revit work sometimes is a challenge of its own lol but the stuff that I see people produce is mind-blowing to me.

I'm amaze at how efficient you can produce beautiful renders using Lumion. What takes me hours to cook a scene, takes only a few minutes. I hope in a few years, Lumion could reach the level of photorealism like vray.

Perhaps not as far off as you think - Nvidia RTX stuff is making real-time ray tracing a possibility. All that has to be done is for Lumion to include support for the RTX GPUs and a ray/path tracing engine. Of course, the flipside is that other renderers can also incorporate that tech and help improve the speed of their rendering solutions significantly too.

@@lornacute20 Dear friend, there's no need to be toxic to be heard. Architects are really open-minded members of society, if you want to settle a discussion then just start it. It's pretty enough among us. Ever heard about social roles? Very reasonable yet doubtful thing. Since you're architect, you gonna get used to show class when you communicate to people, at least inside your professional sphere. Actually, Mahmoud said the truth, Lumion provides lack of quality in interior rendering. It's not critical, yes, outcome pictures are kinda decent. But too far from good result. And you would experience interior rendering two ways - If you set up a scene of a large hall with panoramic windows and high ceilings which mean that Lumion is able to properly put sunlight inside that space, build reflexes and set nice shadow it turns out to be good of course. But if you come up with redering standart flat in 9-15 stories typical living building, with small-as-hell windows which are roughly 1500x1500mm. In this case Lumion have no chance to let sunlight inside the scene, so it cant build reflexes and shadow, hence your scene looses volume and you start to use spotlights and omnilight or maybe add emissiveness to particular materials. The first (spotlight) - may actually help you setting up falling shadows from inside objects, yes, but on the other hand you recieve very rude conic shadow on the wall. Second and third soulutions provide the light that completely ignore surrounding objects which is so unreal it hurts. So you start to use all of these methods at once, but it's more like kind of a crutch than a proper solution. Gotta mention, that I understand how it is hard to make proper light tool that wouldn't consume all of your resources in real-time visualization and be pro realistic at the same time. Still I hope Lumion developers would find solution to solve those moments.

I'm still in high school and will be in college for architecture next year, but I started architecture drawing and design last year and was searching for falling water on youtube when I ran into lumion. Its so beautiful and I wish I could use it :(.... still haven't been able to try it yet because its so expensive. But hopefully one day. I want to make my revit designs come to life.

@@aronkvh yes I am from the U.S. but the issue is when I looked into the educational version it stated we needed to be a college to access it. I spoke to my architecture teacher and he said he wasnt sure if we could connect to lumion with the college because we lacked identification.

Upgraded to Lumion 9 and discovered that one of the main features advertised i.e. "Real Skies" and "Precipitation - rain and snow" effects are unavailable to "non pro" license. In the Lumion 9 Release Trailer it says that these new features and effects are available in "Lumion 9" (They fail to mention that it's only available in Pro License only. Very disappointing.

Quality is almost as good as Vray but interterms of workflow and rendering speed I’d prefer lumion any time. Ive been a Vray user for 5 years creating a simple scene would take hours, just simply test rendering, material adjustment & light adjustment would take from 3 hours to an entire day and that is only for the trial and error phase, rendering the final scene would take another 1-3 hours!! but here in lumion it only takes a couple of minutes sometimes only seconds! Good job guys! You just solve one of the biggest problems in visualization!

Hahaha. Dude I could name you 50 things in 2 minutes only in a field of materials. Dont feel sad for Chaos Group. Their market is aimed to professional 3d artists that make CGI for movies and animations and top photorealistic architectural projects that pay 3 times the price of Lumion just for the few renders. Lumion rules the field of arch visualization for mid quality photorealistic renders where speed matters. If anything comes close to Vray, Chaos group buys it. This is what happened to Corona.

The new skies look very interesting. Was wondering if HDRI implementation is what I saw in the teaser but skies are nice as well. Also no subscription based plan? I think lumion should work on integration of ray tracing in the upcoming version ,lets say lumion 10 .ya it might not perform well in real time as the real time ray tracing hardware is new. But for photo render it would be nice addition. Hoping for good.
