The 2 main flaws of this camera (had it for a year): 1) 1080p has large amounts of moiré; 2) the EVF optics are so bad. I wish they had released this camera without the EVF. I might look at the new one.

Hi Marlene, lovely channel.. I couldn't find definitive info on if the the G100 works smoothly with the new Lumix Sync app on an iPad for Live view + Control features with remote Start/Stop video recordings? Its very nice for some of the Sony ZV-E10 (I own) cameras to be able to use the 3rd part Monitor+ app on an iPad which adds false color, scopes and even LUT preview for video recording. Considering adding the G100 as a 2nd cam for EVF (everyday stills) and b-roll. Thanks!

Hi Marlene.. Thanks so much for posting this, exactly what I was looking for. Novice here looking to do basic information videos for a medical office that I will edit on iMovie. With a wireless mic and lighting, do you think this camera will work well for that? The videos will be posted on a KZbin channel. If not, can you recommend something in the $500 range that would work better? I was also considering the Sony ZV-1F. Thanks!!
@ImageMaven10 ай бұрын
I've only had experience with the Lumix G100 and other Lumix cameras with video. For the price it's good. You might also check out the Sony ZV-1 vlogging camera. And I've heard a lot of great things about the tiny DJI Osmo Pocket 3. The Creator Combo includes an excellent mic so you'll save a few hundred dollars there. If you watch some of @tamaragabriel youtube videos on that camera, it might also help you decide. Here's a good starting one: kzbin.info/www/bejne/anOvkGOCn7athNEsi=eUc7c5lZZ9MyuoME Plus many people start with their phone! There are a lot of microphones and tripods and other attachments for phones these days. I'm personally not a fan as I feel the video quality is always better on a real camera, but some people like the simplicity of using their phones. Audio is very important, so if you do use your phone, make sure to get a good external mic. My Rode Wireless GoII has a phone attachment cable, and it can also be used directly on my computer via USB if I need to record any voice-overs. Sorry I couldn't be more specific but I don't have much experience with other camera brands. If you have any friends or coworkers with camera gear, it might be worth testing out. Or a good camera shop can also help you. But beware the upsell!

I didn't realise there was a new version of the G100 on the horizon. I'll check on our supplier to find out when it's due tho I'll be keeping my current G100 for the foreseeable future. The usb-c upgrade is good but can it record to a hard drive thru it? The G100 is a nice camera, good for most things in my opinion, and as a walk around pocket camera it is excellent. My lens of choice is the Olympus 17mm f1.8. I use mine mainly for stills as the image quality is practically the same as the G9. I did use it to film my dad as it's time to record his story last week. The video quality is only so-so but it's my fault for not turning on more lights (in photo/video light is your friend :)

I tend to use secondhand Olympus lenses because they are not expensive (build quality is not great) but perfect for my level of photography. Hi Michael. Very interesting note about the Godox flash. I have a Godox and a Lumix speed light. Ah tethering… I actually got Capture One Pro 20-ish years ago as it was the only software at the time that tethered with my Canon 20D. The old version of Lumix tether did actually work well, and also for making the G9 and G100 a webcam, which I still use all the time with G100 for zoom and many other meetings. But I haven’t been able to get tethering working again with the G9. I’d love to be able to tether. If C1 works, I think it would have to come from the software side. Does it work with your G9? Sorry I don’t have any specific answers for you on that. Maybe “tether tools” would work. Or jump on one of the Lumix Livestreams and pop your question in. Sean is a wealth of information.

@ImageMaven Жыл бұрын
Sorry I can't answer your question as I don't have a G95. I think most new cameras these days will have 4K video capabilities, so don't let that stop you. I suggest you go to a camera shop that has both and take a memory card and test them out to see which you like best. But it sounds like you're leaning towards a G95. I say go for it, especially as it sounds like you're mainly into photography and not video. And Merry Christmas to you too!
@8thom00 Жыл бұрын
I’d recommend to check once again the size difference, as the G95 to me is and feels much much bigger than the G100. The G95 has many advantages, including weather sealing, ibis, and many more video options, but the risk is to keep it at home whereas the G100 could be with you all time.
@jamesfalkofske639911 ай бұрын
I bought a G100 and horribly regret it. While it may be good for video, it is a disaster for portrait and fashion photography - because the top-limit for flash-sync is only 1/50th of a second - which means almost no control over ambient/flash combinations of lighting. Unfortunately I assumed that the G100 had the same sync as the G9 and G95 (which I also own) which are 1/200th syncs that really can work effectively up to 1/320th of a second (reduced light but not the dark banding that mechanical shutter blades produce when shot too fast).
@ImageMaven11 ай бұрын
I don’t think that’s what this camera is really designed for professionally. Although with the right lens you can get great shots and have some fun with it. It was originally marketed to vloggers. But yes, the slow sync speed is a hindrance for me too. But all of my small Lumix G cameras have the same slow sync. If it’s really something you need to use with flash outdoors, then you’d need an ND filter. @MarkusPix recently made a video on that topic. You should check it out.

I've been wanting to get into the KZbin on the cheap and it's why I picked up the G100 over a year ago. BUT! Sadly, as much as I wanted to like this camera it wasn't for me due to it's lack of IBIS, video limit of 10 minutes in 4k, I know I know, who needs to record in 4k, well.... it's the reason WHY I got this affordable camera, to do "set it and forget it" video podcasts. I ended up asking a buddy to be behind the camera to hit record every ten minutes for my first video. But! I'm seeing videos praising this little camera lately, so now is the time to sell. ^_^ Also, I was never really happy with the photo quality. And now I'm hearing they might release a Mark II version, but again, with the same lack of features. LASTLY! I actually took the G100 with me on three weddings and I was so annoyed at how easily by accident you can change the settings by simply throwing the camera in and out of your camera bag.
@ImageMaven10 ай бұрын
Sorry to hear it didn't work out for you. A lengthy 4K video podcast would be a huge render file! I'm not sure you're going to get too many cheap 4K cameras with super long record time. They would likely overheat at some point. Even the higher end cameras suffer from that problem. Have you considered a CamCorder style camera? They have longer recording limits than you're facing with the G100 or other photography cameras and you can get some older handycams for less money than a photo/video camera. Oh and most take 4K photos too. But hopefully you have a better camera than the G100 for most of your wedding stills. But I've never had any problems with image quality myself.
@thedrunkweddingphotographer10 ай бұрын
@@ImageMaven Ooff! I didn't even think of that!? The large file size. 😅 And to be honest, I'm not even asking for much from the G100, or was. I simply wanted better video I was getting from my iPhone SE 1st gen. But even then, the SE blows the G100 out of the water when it comes to panning, built in audio, stabilizer etc. Granted, the video quality is better on the G100 but it's not usable for quick videos on the fly. Not without a gimbal, monopod, tripod etc. Which defeats the purpose of having a small 4k camera on you at all times. Thats' the thing, I'm a film wedding photographer, I already carry at least 10 pounds worth of gear, film, meters, etc. with me on a wedding, last thing I want is to carry even more weight to record some quick video, that's where the iPhone comes in. It's why I originally went with the G100 because I thought it met my needs. But if it had the IBIS, I would be singing a different song. And I'm the type that doesn't not like to have gear that only serves one propose. I would prefer to have gear I can use for both wedding and personal work. Hence why the Olympus EM-1 for now, is my back up cam.... BUT! I doesn't fit the need to record long podcasts 'cause it doesn't have a flippy screen to know I'm recording. It's a never ending battle with digital gear. Main reason why I just stick with film. 😅
