A close cousin of the great M43 14-140mm f3.5-5.6 zoom that I used on my G9. I used it for travel all the time. Now in S5ii land, this is the same lens!

I’m excited for this lens to be released. I currently use 2 S5iix cameras, a 35mm, 50mm, 85mm, and 20-60mm kit lens. I’ll be happy to test it out if LUMIX wants to send me one 😉.

So, given that it was "here" in the US 3 months ago... when will it be here in the US?

I think the question a lot of us want to know is how IQ stacks up with the 24-105. Anyone wanting "all-in-one" before got the 24-105 which is excellent - but getting more reach with 200g less weight is also appealing. Then again having semi macro on the long side of the 24-105 seems more practical. My plan before was to add a 100-400 to my 24-105 to do it all, but this new lens definitely has piqued my interest if i could trade in my 24-105 for this and just carry another small prime for those low-light and shallow DoF shots, that could be a nice combo as well.

I do something similar regarding setup on the MFT system. I have the Olympus 12-100mm f/4 IS PRO (24-200mm FF equivalent) and carry the 25mm f/1.2 PRO (50mm FF equivalent) for lower light situations. When I’m shooting FF with my Lumix S5II & S5 cameras, I’m carrying two lenses, the Sigma Art 24-70 f/2.8 and the Canon 135mm f/2L USM. If Lumix followed Canon’s lead and introduced a 24-105mm f/2.8 with a power zoom, the folks shooting professional video would go nuts!

I always wondered what that line and circle was! Excellent tip and this lens is great. It performs beautifully.

Great video Sean. In light of this achievement, the argument for MFT now comes down mainly to framerates without a crop, size less so

The volume seems low on this. While I can't afford it now, I am interested in this lens and I like the way Panasonic are taking different things into their account when designing their new lenses. I have an S5II with a 14-28mm lens, so having this would be a good partner for that lens for general purpose photography and videography when I don't want/need a prime lens. While I would have preferred it be f/5.6 like the 14-28mm, f/7.1 is not a big deal for me as I often shoot at f/8 to f/11 in some situations. Is that f/7.1 to keep the size down? It is great to see a 28-200mm looking so compact, how close you can get with it and that it is parfocal. Seems like a great zoom lens.

Thanks a lot for this interesting introduction of this versatile lens. But i have one question: on the japanese Panasonic Homepage i have just found a new Firmware Update for the Lumix S5 II, Version 2.4, released on Jan. 30th 2024. But there is no other information concerning the content of this firmware. Do you have any Information?

As straight photography cameras go they're on par with any other brand sporting a Sony sensor. One thing to note for the Fuji people watching, once Lumix pull out a new camera, forget about getting new features via firmware updates for your current machine. They can't be bothered.

Does Lumix have any plans to release lenses for wildlife photography? For many of us who are planning to make an investment in cameras and related tools for the first time, scalability is very important. I want to buy Lumix S5II but I don't see any quality lenses for wildlife photography in case I want to do that in the future. That's holding me back. Most of your promotions focus on videos.

the sony rx10iv has better image quality than full frame cameras with approx 24-200mm zoom lens attached. has this lens managed to break that barrier and actually bring increased image quality?

Welllll, if I have to be autistic, it will be less balanced when you move off of 75 to either extreme. Physics. If something is moving, it's balance is changing. But any modern gimbal will be able to mostly offset this without much of a sweat.
@janwedek10 ай бұрын
Sure. But I would assume that it is designed so that the bulk in the lens of the glass stays quite close to the pivot point and that the moving parts carry less weight. Really neat
