For me coming from the zve10, this or the original s5 makes a lot of sense. I only have one e mount lens, and if I were to switch ecosystems I would have to do it with my next upgrade. The fx30 is really tempting, but literally everything about any of the S5’s just gets me excited about shooting full frame.

So glad I held out until the S5iix came out. I've been bouncing around choices of what to move to next, and I think the S5iix is really what can bring me the choices I need for filmmaking now and in the near future. The fact that the S5ii/x has shutter angle, waveform, vectorscope, etc., brings a lot of filmmaking tools forward. Yes, the S5ii might be enough, too.

I have the S5ii the only thing that I would love to have versus the x variant is the direct SSD recording. At least Panasonic had the class to let buyers know that the x was coming and what the differences were going to be to help users decide which is best. I really love My S5ii for everything but especially for Live Crop for my B Roll it's the bees knees. Cheers.

I really appreciate the comparison to the FX30 - there aren’t many videos out right now directly comparing the S5ii to the FX30, and those are the two i’m deciding between right now. Reliable autofocus is super important to me, so it comes down to the cinema body + better autofocus vs full frame + more features, but marginally worse autofocus. Going full-frame Lumix also feels like I’m backing myself into a corner with lens selection too. You mentioned in your initial S5ii video that you might do a video comparing it to the FX30, if you do I’m here for it! Great videos, I appreciate your honest perspective.

The whole reason I’m camera shopping now is because the canon M50 I’ve been rocking with for a few years just doesn’t hold up with autofocus. So if I’m upgrading for autofocus, I should probably just go with the tried-and-true Sony. Hard not to get sucked into the spec sheets and full-frame hype train though. Omg thank you, someone finally said the truth about the ZV-E1. Felt like I was going crazy. The camera is far too expensive for what it is, far to casual for it’s price, far too small for its power, they put a Ferrari engine in a golf cart. The Sony A6400 is a far better choice and camera than the ZV-E1. Got my S5iix on order and very impatiently waiting it’s arrival, great video man!

Love how you bring it raw and uncut! This camera looks so dope and I always loved Panasonic cameras but I actually prefer the Sony image quality. I just bought a A74 and I’m very happy with it. I use a Blackmagic 6K for most of my client work and also happy with that for now.

i love shooting with the S5 mk2. Mostly with the Lumix trio 18, 35 and 85mm 1.8, and sometimes with the kit lens which is super versatile. I would love to have Panasonic announce something between an FX6 (compact with internal nd , sdi out) and a nikon Z9 (fast sensor, crazy specs for feeling super futureproof) - it would make me much more confident in investing in the L-mount system. From what i'm understanding, Lumix doesn't seem to have the money to pull something like that though... It's okay I'll just save the money and stop buying THINGS. ps = i'll stop looking at the 14-28mm ;-)

Thanks so much for this video! I was having a really hard time choosing a camera. Sony has better autofocus than S5iiX, that those 12 MP and single slot SD card, 4k overheating was kinda a deal breaker for me. So for the same price as Sony ZV-E1 with 28-60mm Lens I picked up brand new Panasonic Lumix S5 IIX with 20-60mm f3.5-5.6 Lens, 50mm f1.8 Lens and 85mm F1.8 Lens for just 2389 GBP. Can't wait to try it out! I will also shoot most video and pictures to external NVMe SSD as it's much cheaper and a lot faster so will save a lot more money this way.

I don't know why I'm watching all of those videos about fancy brand new mirrorless cameras while I know very damn well that I'll keep using my old X-H1 cause I have no money lmao but yeah. S5IIX and S5II look like the move to make if you wanna spend 2.5k on a camera system for video right now. As a pure hybrid, I'd still say that the Canon R6 mk II has a bit more compelling spec sheet (at least if you put as much focus on photography as you do for video, and don't really need any of the RAW features that the S5IIX brings)

I just want a gh6s with phase detect autofocus, more frame rate options and less rolling shutter than this.That's all! A super 35 sensor would be nice on it but m4/3 is nice as well! Damnnn😭😭 I was looking to get a Sony ZV-E1 in white just for video because of its auto focus and potentially lowlight performance. Someone enlightened me if I should get the E1 or the S5 ii X. I’m currently shooting with a Fuji X-S10 doing concert photography and videos on social media. I love the Fuji colors but I’m really pushing my camera to its limits. It overheats, terrible lowlight, and misses focus 😭

I'm going to invest in my first full frame and I'm completely undecided between the Sony A7SIII and the Lumix S5IIX. Sony seems very reliable to me, but I have doubts mainly due to the lack of updates and also because it is an older camera. On the other hand, I have an amazing recent camera with a great price, but which raises questions about Rolling Shutter and 60 fps cropping. What would I recommend? I've been in this cruel doubt for months! 😅

Isn't the main appeal of the zv-e1 its compact size and sensor? I switched from the S5 mk1 to Sony because I valued portability and autofocus, opting for the smallest body I could find, the A7C. It has become my favorite camera, and I even used it for video despite having the Lumix. I prioritize size and image quality, and I believe the zv-e1 caters to people like me. While I personally won't purchase it, if I needed an better video camera, the zv-e1 would likely be my choice. As a non-professional, and I assume the majority of camera buyers are not professionals, having a full-frame camera with the A7s III sensor in a smaller package than the A7C is quite impressive. I understand why professional filmmakers might consider it subpar, though.
