KUDOS TO YOU, KURT! You did an awesome job making our favorite Lumpia! Like any skill, cooking is something you can get better at, with time and practice. Our mom taught us how to cook and bake at an early age of 10. My twin sister and I developed the skills in cooking and baking through the years. Before we have ever been tagged as “the reigning queens of potluck,”(hahaha!) we navigated our cooking skills through many trials and errors, not to mention when our kitchen almost burst into flames.😂😂 So, don't be discouraged as you learn. Keep practicing your cooking skills and continue trying out new recipes. The more you cook, the better you will become and the tastier your dishes will be. Practice makes perfect! We are truly grateful for your daily vlog and we’re always here to support you and your future endeavors! We will always be your cheerleaders, your unwavering allies. Kurt, you did not read the label on spring rolls. The ones you bought are the vietnamese rice paper, which you should soak in water before you wrap fresh veggies. The ones we use fir filipino lumpia is the one from wheat flour. It is usualky white, unlike the vietnanese soring rolls which are transparent or translucent. The spring rolls should be cooked in medium heat.

Hello Kurt! Grasshopper = Tipaklong, Cobweb = sapot. To wash = Maghugas. If you can't find ground chicken, you can use ground beef, if not ground pork is even better. But it can be any protein you want. You are right about food prices, it is getting high. This is why I do a ton of cooking at home, instead of eating out. Plus, you can control what you put in your food, and you have leftovers. For lumpia, very good you are using a small food processor. That is what I do because in lumpia, you want them very small. Unless you are good with the knife skill, the food processor is a less hassle way of doing it. I am glad you used the ninja. Those are not the same lumpia wrappers for Lumpia. Those are for Vietnamese spring rolls. You also have to submerge them in water to be pliable. You are right, you don't need a ziplock bag to do this. You are doing it right, you are just putting way too much meat. All in all I think you did great for your first time making this dish. I think your oil is not hot enough, this will make it oily inside. If oil is too hot, it will easily burn the outside while inside is still raw. Like I always say, cooking is an adventure, and art. Explore your inner cook:) AGAIN PRIME, SPONSOR KURT!!!

The lumpia is so big, it’s almost like turon! Hahaha. But it’s delicious.😋The mixture of lumpia meat, if it’s pork, can be made into embutido (filipino meatloaf). You just need to add a few more ingredients, roll it in aluminum foil, and steam it. The KZbin algorithm is really picking up. Even if I refresh the KZbin window 10 times, your face is still in the center, and there are at least three videos featuring you on the page. Nakakainis na hahaha....biro lang po.

you can buy chicken fillet then use your grinder or mince them with knife. shopping tip: select at least 3 recipes that you want to try then go buy all the ingredients for all the dishes. that way, you only need to visit the store at least once or twice a week. specially if those recipes have almost the same ingredients. buying in bulk may lessen the cost. like, if you need 1 lb of pork, you can buy 2-3 lbs of pork and save the other portion for next dish.

Sapot is the Tagalog word for cobwebs. "Maghuhugas ako ng kamay" means I'll wash my hands. Kuya Kurt, you used the rice paper wrapper and not the regular spring roll wrapper. You need to soak it in water to become pliable before putting the filling. You dont actually need to cut the sides since you can just fold it once the wrapper is pliable. Using the food processor is the right way to grate the onions so good job with that. The amount of oil that you used is just right but if you want to check if its hot, dip a wooden spoon and if you see some bubbles around it, it means the oil is already hot. However, the rice paper wrapper will not turn golden brown unlike the lumpia wrapper especially that you didnt soak it water. When the oil turned dark, that's the sign that what you're cooking is already burned. I saw your frustration but Im glad that you still find something positive about it. You even became philosophical about it. And Im happy that your lumpia taste good despite how it looks. Hope this experience will not discourage you from cooking again. Hi Kurt! you got the wrong wrapper. That is rice paper used for Vietnamese spring rolls. you can actually use that, but you have to dip that to the water, so it'll soften as soon as you roll the meat. Also, you can use one tablespoon of the mixture on the wrapper for a perfect ratio of meat and wrapper. When you visit the Philippines, you can check these lumpia wrappers used for the lumpia, and maybe you can redeem yourself when you perfectly cooked it here in the Philippines :) Good luck! i enjoy your vids :)

If I remember correctly, monterey and puregold sell premixed ground meat for lumpia. All you have to do is wrap them and enjoy. Though I do advise wrapping just one and cook it and then add salt and spices to your liking to the rest of the mix. You can also check the following for more recipes: panlasang pinoy ninong ry erwan heussaff via featr abi marquez chef tatung chef rv manabat By the way, vinegar doesn't have a traditional expiry date. They do "expire" but what happens is either they taste bland or something else. And apart from getting a tummy ache, you won't get harmed from consuming vinegar that's on the shelf for a few years (unless it's been contaminated, of course). What usually is indicated on the bottle is the date where the peak freshness of the vinegar ends.

One cardinal😢 rule in buying stuff....please read the labels! Lumpia wrappers & other wraps are now easy to get by! Lumpia wrappers are soft & pliable & available in Asian stores refrigerated cases. Some generic supermarkets trying to catch up on the trend are identifying them as dumpling wrappers! What you had are RICE PAPERS which needed to be dipped in warm water to make it pliant or pliable! You could use it without trimming it after it has been wet but it will sputter & splatter oil all over! Folks use them to wrap 'summer rolls' which are not fried! It's Ok to make mistake but reading the labels means never having to say you're sorry or lose time & money! Asian cooking is easy, just read the labels!By the way, conratulations!Your numbers are exploding! In such a short time your channel is close to 65K subs & 9million views! Kurt if its delicious then I will have to congratulate you ! Thats the important thing nman di ba? Masarap... anyway. Our way of doing lumpia is we cook the filling; since we prefer vegetables, we do it half cooked. Though we use a bit of meat with a lot of garlic and onions. Saute it and season it; then strain it. The juice from the strained filling is used to seal the wrapping and it adds more flavor to the lumpia. Now for the sauce, we mix vinegar and less sodium soy sauce with garlic nd onion. We air fry it ( we just discovered it recently); less hassle pa.And it is as crunchy and flavorful. Makakalimutan mo ang pangalan mo!
