I’m having trouble where my uad-2 plugins in pro tools artist are slowing down my vocals when I start mixing them I usually put delay compensation on and it helps but out of no where when I do it now it slows down the audio even more I really need help because I love the sound of my uad plugins

There are a couple plugins that Pro Tools doesn't have enough compensation to account for, but you shouldn't be experiencing that for the most part. Use the UADx version where possible, to minimize mixing latency.

I don't get it . Why would I want to change? I have a solo , I thought I was getting the same quality out of my UAD2 plugins when I run natively ? I have a M1 Mac mini with only my 3 DAWS on it so I have a lot more resources Natively .Would I have to shut any other UAD2 ones if I don't have enough DSP. If I went back to the DSP mode?You just started answering my question in the video but I still don't follow why we would want to do it. Are the DSP versions of the UAD2 plugins better? So if I don't own say the 1073 in UAD2 but have it in Spark will it still change over? Because my UAD2 plugins work in Core Audio. I'm a little confused with this one. So, it's simply about latency. DSP adds negligible latency during recording, while native versions of the plugins add lots. This new change makes it automatically switch to DSP when you record-enable a track so you can have low latency, but use the native versions for everything that's not needing low latency and it's done automatically.

For this workflow Apollo is needed.

Thank you! LUNA is definitely on the right track. The UADx versions can get pretty CPU heavy, but a modern Mac can run dozens of instances.

Hi Matt, I can't wrap my head around the fact that you were using the plugins during tracking and still running them again after tracking. Isn't that double processing? I also don't think that all plugins are suitable for tracking and so I see this "tracking with plugins" to be over hyped.

So, during tracking they're not printing, just monitored, which is why they're still on there during playback. It makes it a seamless experience. If I were printing the plugin as if it were outboard I definitely wouldn't want to have the plugin during playback, though.

LUNA exclusive. Yes, you can use third-party plugins. In fact, I have several on some of my channels in this vid. They show a generic icon.

I have a simple two mic track for acoustic and vocal. Added a unison preamp and added a reverb simple but I get an echo affect that I can’t get rid of. My computer is mac and isn’t slow. Not sure what I’m doing wrong. It’s easier to just use console and send to logic. No issue there since I’m monitoring from console.

It sounds to me like you're double monitoring. If you want to monitor through Logic, you'll need to mute all the inputs (and auxes) in Console. The opposite (using Console for monitoring and disabling software monitoring in Logic) is the recommended way.

Ah, that would make sense. It has to go through the Antelope and buffer twice. Not useable for tracking. Also, since hardware inserts aren't completely supported yet, it can't run in a more efficient way. LUNA is still a pretty young DAW, so I think we'll see improvements there. I have an Orion, but I haven't tried it with LUNA yet.

Over 300 plugins available for AAX DSP including the likes of Sonnox, McDSP, Brainworx, Softube and Empirical Labs to name a few. Didn’t some of them develop for the UAD 2 platform? Those must be the inferior UAD 2 plugins then. 😉

As a former HDX owner and current Carbon owner I really struggle with AAX DSP plugins being start to finish plugins for me. Maybe I'm unique? There's no 1073, no recent LA2A or LA3A, no API, no recent 1176 (other than PA's Purple, but the latency is too high for tracking use on that one), etc. The only options there are the 25 year old Bomb Factory options. I do use Sonnox, Bx, MH, and McDSP. They just don't have the big studuo staples. Am I alone?

Yeah, pretty surprised there isn't a UA tuner. The Brainworx is (was) the only option. It's decent, but discontinued for the UAD platform.
