Lunan Bay J Shands first composition. A lovely tune which I play on my 5 row CBA and sometimes on m2 row diatonic and a few years ago I made the long journey from Cumbria to play that tune on the beach at Lunan Bay.

Thanks for that from the other side of the world (and about time too 🙂). Interesting to see you play "3-2" bass. I've been told by too many people that I should be playing "3-4". Do you have an opinion there? (I'm self-taught - never had a teacher or even any sort of mentor). I also have that book amongst others. I am looking forward to more from you. Pete.

Interesting question that you ask there! Charlie has probably been too busy to answer: getting ready for Hogmanay: actually having it: and now will be taking a few weeks to get over it! For bass fingering I don't believe that there is any "right" or "wrong" way. I was taught to use 2 & 3, but one of the best accordionists on the internet uses 3 & 4. There are also some that use 2,3 & 4! Whatever you are comfortable with is correct for me! Cheers

I started with the Sedlon book, and i think it taught 3,2. I then had a teacher who played 3,2. Lot of people very sure 3-4 is the better way, I'm too far down the road to change now. I think Italians play 4,3,2. I suppose either way has merits, but as Kevin says, whatever you are comfortable with works. All the best 🪗👍

Hi Charlie, what a Gorgeous looking Accordion, it sounds terrific as well, I have a 96 Bass Fisitalia, but wouldn't mind one like this to add to my collection, Sir Jimmy Shand was the reason I took up the Accordion 68 years ago, strange as it may seem I don't have this book, but I'm quite sure I'll be able to get a sheet music copy from somewhere. Merry Christmas & Happy New Year.
