Do you put all the non refrigerator items in the lunchbox then to the fridge too? I've been trying to figure out how to do this multiple lunches thing but I get stuck on the fact that some are pantry items and some are cold items.
@carolynkennedy10832 ай бұрын
@@deahbledsoe9304 I put shelf stable items in the actual lunchbox on my counter. The bento goes in the fridge. But, I do put things like crackers, fruit snacks, mini candy in the bento opened.

My game changing tip is to get them packing their own lunch as soon as possible. Even part of their lunch to start with. My kids are a little older, but started packing their own lunches when they were about 8. They know they have to put in 1-2 fruit, 1-2 Vegies, a sandwich or similar, then can choose a snack and a treat.

Love all of these tips and tricks! The biggest “aha moment” for us was that our son tends to eat just about anything when he is at daycare/preschool, so packing lunches became less stressful once we realized that he isn’t as picky at school compared than at home.

The two lunchbox system is a game changer. Two of my kids are homeschooled but my middle goes to public elementary and epic lunches packed by mom are her love language. We have two identical beautiful purple silicone lunchboxes to avoid putting their food in plastic. After I drop her at school, I come home and put her other lunchbox on the kitchen counter and work on it when I am at home and in the kitchen. I do a main course (including hot stuff like chicken pot pie which she is happy to eat cold), fruit, treat and sometimes another starch, protein or side. When the box is full, I put in the fridge with utensils and her recess snacks. In the morning, I add ice packs to the bottom of her cooler and put the box on top, zip it up and pack in her backpack. She eats humongous meals and complains if I don’t include enough. Her favorite mains are cooked and cooked vegetable spring rolls, bagels or mini bagels, heart-shaped homemade uncrustables, chicken pot pie, mini egg bites, BLT pasta salad. I am the mom of three kids and two have life-limiting disabilities, so I cut corners wherever I can, but I have to put some love in those lunches! Will you share your muffin and pizza roll-up recipes?

We have a lunch / snack packing station. It’s a 6 cube organizer with 2 of the 6 cubes split with cube dividers. The 4 smaller sections hold utensils and napkins, snacks, fruit cups/ pouches, and drink mixes (true lemon kids). The 4 remaining cubes have lunch containers, snack containers, lunchboxes, and disposable containers (field trips mostly). The whole family (2 adults for work lunches, 2 kids for school lunches) uses this.

Awesome hacks! I know you can premake meat and cheese sandwiches no condiments. Some people like having a station in there fridge with lunchbox items ready to go. The child can go in and grab what the want for their lunch. I need to try the third lunchbox with this being my first year packing a lunch. I have a feeling my two year old will want a packed lunch for at home. I hope you, Michael, Miles, Finley, Tate, baby girl, and Olive have a great week!

That's my gripe on bentgo as well. Plus, the thing we always have break is the flip tabs. You can't get a replacement. We also make pizza rolls from scratch, and the kids love them cold. I have the same fear about things getting soggy. But I am 100% going to try the uncrustable and freeze it. That would be a sweet video.

Great video. No lunch packing going on here which I kinda feel bad about. There are so many cool lunch box ideas out now I’m almost tempted to buy one just to enjoy them but I won’t. I never bought any of the lunch box stuff when I was “brown bagging” because the boxes or bags always had the handle on the side instead of on top so stuff would slide into each other or slide to the bottom of the container. Why they couldn’t put the lid on top so you could hold it upright was beyond me. The bento style boxes would be good for my situation now because I get a lot of pre-made food for the nights my son doesn’t feel like cooking. Unfortunately my freezer isn’t big enough. Love the Un-crustable maker. Even at my age I still don’t eat the bottom and side crust. Not sure why! Thanks for the great tips and hope baby 4 comes soon. Amazon also has an Uncrustable maker that not only makes the crustless sandwich but will make triangles if your child likes their sandwich cut in 1/2 on an angle. Put sandwich into the cutter, press down-voila-2 halved sandwich pockets.

I packed school lunches and also worked as a lunch/recess aid. It was amazing just how much food was thrown away. I think letting kids choose what goes in the lunch is helpful. I they want P and J every day so be it. It is good your schools doesn't allow pre bagged snacks, they are usually unhealthy and hard to open. I think school lunches were nice as a change a couple of times a week. My girls like pizza and potatoes and gravy.

I know these lunch boxes are designed for little kids. But I’m seriously thinking of getting the b.box 3 pack for my high school senior. Between leadership and after school sports the extra boxes would be great to give her a lunch + light after school snack before practice. Healthier and cheaper than driving to Dutch Bros. between school and practice 🤦🏻♀️. I work from home… it would be nice to get my act together to pre make myself lunch and snacks too. But since I’m at home, the reusable hefty section boxes are just fine. lol 😂 we bought them for out daughter last year, but they leak and don’t keep her salad cold. I really think the little kid boxes will work great!

You can dip apples into lemon juice, and they won't turn brown. It's super quick and easy. Also, through my own experiments, lime juice makes an avacado turn brown faster. I have found the best method is to slice it and immediately put it in a container. If you limit the amount of time it's out in the air, it will stay green longer.
@toryevanss45123 ай бұрын
Dang, I've been putting all parts of my Bentgo boxes every single day for years. Didn't know I wasn't supposed to, but I've never had a problem. Probably want to avoid the bottom rack if you have a heating element in your dishwasher. The salt water apples soak is awesome. My 12yo did his science experiment on this last year and confirmed that it's by far the best way.

I try to figure out portions for the week. If it’s Mac n cheese, I’ll figure out portions and put them in a container etc. If it’s a sandwich with all the fixings I’ll have the bread in bags (can reuse), the lettuce might be washed and dried. The chicken will be cut and set aside. It’s so much easier to grab and make quickly vs find the meat. Open the container. Cut it up. Is that enough meat for that person?
