Malaysian food vlog: Time to try some Gulai Batang Pisang and have lunch IN the river - not by the river
Welcome to episode 120 of my trip all around Malaysia. If you haven’t seen the previous episodes you can watch them here:
➡️ • Traveling Malaysia - A...
Time to explore Kedah, Malaysia. I state in the north of Malaysia. We have been invited by the Kedah tourism office to start a Kedah roadtrip. Together with my friends Steve & Ivana (JetLag Warriors) and Gred & Jumi (Food & Footprints) we will be exploring around Kedah, Malaysia in the next days. The Kedah tourism office organized a bunch of cool activities and places to visit, so tay tuned for our Kedah roadtrip in the next days. Jom Mai Kedah! Today we are trying some more Malaysian food, Gulai Batang Pisang. And there is something special about our lunch today: Its IN a river, not by, its lunch IN the river. Sounds pretty crazy, let’s check that out. Malaysian food IN a river in Kedah, Malaysia.
I am currently traveling Malaysia - all around the country - and try to find as many hidden gems and stories as possible. I am going to stay in the Kedah state for around a week, so if you are interested in more Kedah vlogs, Kedah tourguides or some more Kedah food tours or Malaysia vlogs in general, stay tuned for more.

After the Corona Lockdown, it is now possible again to travel Malaysia. In the next weeks I will travel Malaysia (all around the country) and make daily vlogs about it. I will show you how to travel Malaysia, how to do backpacking Malaysia and show you what it's like to solo travel around this country in southeast Asia. So, if you are interested in backpacking southeast Asia in general or specifically interested in backpacking Malaysia, then this series of my Malaysia travel vlogs might be interesting for you.
How is it to travel Malaysia after the Corona lockdown? Will there be tourist or will I be the only one? How to travel Malaysia on a budget during this time? We are going to find out all of this in the upcoming weeks, daily vlogs from now on, documenting my whole trip traveling Malaysia, so stay tuned, if you are interested in travel Malaysia by yourself or travel southeast Asia in general 😊

The red fruit you see isn't really the brown thing you know as coffee because before roasting you need to separate the red fruit from the bean (usually need some fermentation to break it down). The roasting is what makes it brown. Sometimes people will make the red part into cascara or coffee cherry tea (you can find them sold in some cafe). Tastes like a fruity tea, a bit like dates in hot water. And I am amazed with their little Arabica farm 😮 I guess the Arabica coffee growing scene is really picking up speed across Malaysia 😮😮😮 Nice video, thanks for asking alot of questions 😂

Hi Ken, this is getting very interesting - having lunch IN the river! I can just imagine the cool water running against your legs while you eat. It seems like the water level is almost near to your seat!. You need to pull off the prawn head 1st, then slowing peel the rest of the shells off the prawn's body. After removing all the shells, you can see the prawn meat- then just enjoy it! You had the tiny one becos you must have torn the prawn into half.🤔 😂
