What are the cultural differences between Germany & Malaysia? Let’s talk about German culture & Malaysian culture (Food, Dating & More)
Welcome to episode 113 of my trip all around Malaysia. If you haven’t seen the previous episodes you can watch them here:
➡️ • Traveling Malaysia - A...
I am a German living in Malaysia currently since march this year. While traveling Malaysia for over 9 months now I encountered quite a few cultural differences between Germany and Malaysia. The German culture is very different than the Malaysia culture. Food for example is a huge topic and an important part of the life in Malaysia. As a traveler I love experiencing cultural differences. Especially here in Malaysia where you can find so many cultural diversities, which makes the Malaysian culture unique and interesting. Life in Malaysia is quite different than life in Germany. When you are thinking about moving to Germany or moving to Malaysia, then this video about the cultural differences between Germany and Malaysia might be helpful for you. I had a chat with a local from Malaysia about many of the cultural differences between this Asian and my western country. Let’s explore and get to know the German culture as well as the Malaysian culture.

Topics to be considered: 1. How about the people? Are they friendly? Do everyone wants to know about what happens in their circle ? Like msians we are always "busy-body" 2. The pet-peeves of German vs Msian people. For e.g. msians must not eat with left hand or younger people must greet older people and address them properly etc.

It's not about street food culture. It's all about Malaysia is a blessed land where food is available 24/7. Historically speaking, people from all around the world migrated to Malaysia to avoid hunger, famine and extreme poverty at their places. This is true even to this day. People who are aware of this situation often wonder why Malaysia, a small country with limited resources, seem to be able to offer enough for everybody. Endless opportunity. Endless love and tolerance. That's a blessing :)

Great vlog Ken. Hey I know it’s been said but you two do look great together. Keep her around awhile. You both bring up interesting topics. I’m a widower. Yup my other half wouldn’t take care of herself and caught up with her. That was 15 years ago. I’m 64 and waiting on KL and the rest of the world to get rid of the Covid-19 virus. My lady is there in KL and I’m going to bring her back with me. I was 17 when I left home and got married when I was 19. We dated for 13 years before we got married. She was my childhood sweetheart. Man I’d like to buy some food trucks and have them park at some places where people gather in Germany and feed them some nice hot meals. I love food trucks. Some of the best cook’s work in them. I went to culinary school so yes I cook for myself and friends. Seeing them enjoying your cooking is gratifying. Stay safe and healthy you two. 29 and not married yet . What’s the holdup? Lol. I think you found her !! #teamabroad

I love this content! Can't have enough! Ok to answer some of your questions: 1. It is common for single adult to live with their parents, usually to look after them. Sometimes married couple even live with their parents for the same reason. It is almost always expected for one of the children to stay with their parents or bring their parents live with them. 2. I got married at age 24, right after I finished my degree. I was one of the earliest amongst my friends. Keep it up Ken!

We usually cook our meals almost everyday but we also hv our lazy days not to cook, by ordering food online or hv our meals outside. Staying with parents is a norm here til they found their life partner n usually will move out once married.

One to back up another. If one need to go for a break, bathroom or pray, then there's another receptionist at the reception counter.

Ken Abroad The Bremen area must be very restrictive: I ate leberkäs from a daytime stall open in the centre of München in 1972. This was the Olympiad year. Shops in Villages closed at noon on Saturdays were only open again on Monday. At that time, I don’t remember any night life in the village. People entertained their friends at home or went to the city. We had würst available from food trucks on a building site operated by a Bavarian company in 1975. Sui Min Edinburgh in Scotland had fish and chip shops for snacking after leaving bars at 10pm, which was the 1970’s closing time. On Sundays, they had to serve food in the bar to be permitted to open. I moved to Aberdeen in 1977 and it had late opening Indian restaurants selling chicken vindaloo - best ate when drunk!

Marriage age in Malaysia differs for men and women, races (malay, chinese n indian) and generations. I can say that since Im a Malay, we tend to get married early due to parents pressure, (its our nature to obey parents), prevention of sex outside religion and also the level of education etc. Whereas usually Chinese my age, 30 either just settling down now or not yet because they want to stabilize their income for family. Btw su min is really cute at the end where she compares the height! 😂

Yeah it's quite common for Malaysian singles to stay at parents' home if they don't get married. It's just economics.. If they do get married, it's also very common to have the parents take care of the grandkids. It's kinda rare to hire babysitters unless the parents are in another city/town.

Age for marriage depends on a few factors such as the education status, working in big city or smaller one, level of economy/salary etc. This is to broad to generalized.

Ken "May I ask you for your surname?" I did have my suspicions about your parentage because you did not appear very European except for your accent. Thanks for sharing that info.I found this vlog very educational and interesting.I hope a TV company would employ you as a travel presenter 👍🏻

I am new suscriber to the channel , I watched a few videos , and I noticed that Ken looked a bit asian himself , and he said in this video he is half Turkish , thats why I was suprised that he said he is non-religious , because I live very near the German border and go very much to shop and gas up the car and whatever in Germany ( Dutch-German border) but most Turkish people there are Muslims , so I was kinda suprised.

Nowadays mostly eat out. Just lazy to cook for one person meal. I learned to cook since young from my mom. So self cooking isn’t much of a problem. I do my own cooking during my university in UK too
