Does moving the lever slightly on the directional control valve result in a slower flow to the cylinder or motor? I am wondering if I can use standard directional control valves to control the direction AND SPEED of a hydraulic motor for a small tracked vehicle for rough terrain material handling. I can't seem to find anywhere that talks about less than full flow through the DCV.

Carl, this is what l have on my tractor, an open center type spool valve from a gear pump, l have lost pressure not flow to the cylinders and cant pickup a bale now. It should be 2300 to 2600 psi but l only have 1000 to 1350 psi, even if l disconnect the front end loader lift and tilt cylinders, so l know that the cylinders are not internally bypassing on the piston rings. What would you recommend. I tried adjusting the relief valve and it makes no difference, still 1350 psi. Would it be the regulator valve inside the spool valves, its affecting both spools for bucket tilt and lift.

Is the 4-port 3-position tandem center valve the correct choice for a connected hydraulic motor instead of a cylinder?

Carl, Trying to figure out a remedy to a hydraulic situation on my kubota tractor. My tractor has a backhoe as well as front end loader. Wanting to add their rear remote kit to use on my tractor to control a hydraulic thumb or tilt and angle on my three point hitch. So I believe my directional control valves must have three ports that allow for power beyond. This seems to be where the compatibility for the backhoe connection and the rear remote connection is not compatible according to kubota. I’m not able to understand why they might not be compatible other than the piping for the rear remotes doesn’t tie into the backhoe lines. I’ve watched many of your videos and have learned a lot. You’re explanations are very good and clear. Looking through your videos I don’t see anything specific to a system with power beyond. Am I missing something or is this something you plan to cover in future videos? I realize I need to be careful and would confirm with people with more knowledge before attempting any changes that could harm me or my tractor.

I have seen Float center valves commonly used in hydraulic machines for vertically mounted cylinder and Closed center valves for Horizontally mounted cylinders... Can someone tell me the application of Tandem center and Open center valves? When do we need to use such valves?
@lunchboxsessions7 жыл бұрын
Thanks for the great question. Open center valves are not common on industrial equipment where one pump is shared with several application circuits. But on some simple machines, with only one horizontal cylinder and a gear pump, it can be a handy choice. Tandem center valves are more common than open center valves. Again they often show up where a gear pump or fixed displacement gear pump is in use. Often the T port of one tandem valve connects to the P port on the next tandem valve. Releasing all levers unloads the pump to tank. But in such a circuit, only one tandem valve with its application circuit can be operated at a time. I hope that helps a little. - Carl

When you have simple hydraulic systems open and tandem centered DCVs are used but not much in complex machine and complex hydraulic systems. The most widely used dcv in complex conventional hydraulic system/s is the float center ones because actuators are multiples and other valving systems/components are added for better actuator functions. Even closed center valves are less considerations for better hydraulic systems by a good designer, only when necessary.

at the animation the pump gears running opposite and not to push the liquid but retune it to the tank

For future viewers, pressure and flow are created on the outside of the gears, not through the center. In the center, the meshing gears make a tight closure, while the outer portion of each gear is carrying fluid from one side to the other.
