Three cheers for Classic X-Men! The Chris Claremont/John Bolton backups are so good and so under-appreciated. Giant-Size X-Men 1 to Uncanny X-Men 143 are my definitive X-Men run, the one I grew up with and the one that made the most impact on me. ASM 161 is a fun story, and when the Punisher and Jigsaw show up in 162 it adds a whole new level. Great video and I enjoyed hearing the background to each of your picks, especially everything you went through to get your G.S. X-Men 1 - it gives a new meaning to "The Agony And The Ecstasy".

Man I love your videos a lot.. I really appreciate what you show us and the passion behind it. The main reason is because you collect like the average person would. You don't have a channel that showcases expensive holy grails which are out of reach and most likely will always be out of reach for the average collector. Most of the channels on KZbin showcase comics that are way too expensive and you cant relate with the creator at all. You make collecting comics seem "do-able" and I appreciate it. I would really like to see more indie comics if your into that sort of thing.

Nightcrawler is one of my favorites too, mostly because it's a better depiction of a real german then in 99% of all superhero comics. When i got the dutch translation of the amazing spider-man 161, i was so happy to see him and spider-man teaming up. My all time favorite is Daredevil, so that issue is one i like very much too. Very nice choices. You being a x-men fan, there had to be some x-men related comics :-) . Loved the 2099 line, very cyberpunk meets superheroes. The personal stories add so much to your appreciation of these gems.

Great choice of top 5 list. Not sure how I'd fill out my own top 5 personal books, but #1 would be easy. The traditional 1st wedding anniversary gift is paper, so for our first anniversary back in 2000, my new wife, who had a friend who owned a comic book store, got me my copy of Hulk 181. That book will never leave my collection, and I will never leave my wife's side. 🙂

Loved the story of collecting cans to get enough money to buy the Spider-Man 2099. It reminded me of my childhood (which was way before yours) when we rode our bikes and collected soda and beer bottles to redeem at the grocery store. That money usually went for sodas, pinball , baseball cards and the occasional comic book. But I didn’t take very good care of my comics or cards. Quite a few baseball cards ended up in the spokes of our bikes unless they were St Louis Cardinals. Those I kept; later to be thrown out by my mother. Thanks for the stories.

Cameo appearance of Jigsaw and then Spider-man on top of it. I think it's a fantastic example of the Silver age merging with the Bronze Age. So many reasons to own this book. @Lunch Money Comics Sorry a bit more context might be needed. It's a great story to me because I was in the same boat as a kid. My collection mainly grew through trades though. My situation didn't allow for much in the means of getting money. Other then praying my dad had a little extra to spare for me and my sister. I have a similar story about NES games she borrowed....she and her husband ruined my super mario 2, Zelda and a few others. Plus ruining the system itself. Sisters got to love them lol.

Great stories, especially the one for Spiderman 2099 as I have sort of similar story on how I got my first NES console as a kid. Not to get into the whole thing here in the comments, but basically I was able to make a trade with another kid and when he called me to tell me his parents said it was fine it was during a snow storm and he said he bring it to school Monday. I remember that it was a Friday when he called and I didn't want him to have a change of mind over the weekend and I said nope I will be right there, and I walked to his house in a snowstorm made the trade shoved it in my backpack and trudge back home. There are more details about the story, but that was the jist of the stroy. I still have the NES system today.
