Lund E85 FLEX Tune Impressions! | 2020 Mustang GT

Today I fill up with a full tank of E85 and flash the Lund Flex Fuel tune on my 2020 Mustang GT! The car feels MUCH faster with E85, but I recommend not running this tune often as it can have a weird idle.

It can be driven around all the time.. lund says that because they got sick of getting asked all the dumb questions Abiut how to switch and how to know ur fuel % etc etc lol.. people run on flex tune for years. It is awesome for trips etc because you don’t have to put e85 in and it isn’t available much in a lot of states anymore.

@@josephparker9726 yes. That's the point of the flex. It'll adjust to whatever ethanol content is present in the 93/E85 mix. Unless you are asking do you have to change injectors and FP...for that Id say go LU47 or 42lb injectors or FIC 1000s all of those are E85 compatible

Feel free to confirm with your tuner, but i was told their tunes are optimized in normal mode, so switching to sport/drag is probably pointless, if not slower.

Why am I always seeing "93" tune thrown around. I've never seen 93 at a gas station. It's either 87 89 91 diesel or e85. Please explain.

@@TheHardestArtist707 93 is super common in some states, specifically east coast. Your state might not have it, which isn’t a big deal. 91 is sill ok.

@@TheHardestArtist707 Octane varies by elevations & conditions. Higher elevations like the sierras / rocky mtns will probably see lower octanes i.e. 91 which at higher elevations is comparable to 93... in a nutshell.

After you fill up with e85 like this, let the car run while you pump it and go in and pay and then drive it. Lunds head tuner said you can drive normally /slow and it will learn faster vs looking like an idiot sitting and revving at a gas pump And plugging up a gas pump like that..

I have a 2020 as well and on my gas filler it's saysE15. Have you ever tried it, I might have to try E85.

You need to be tuned for e85 to run it

E15 is literally regular pump gas haha. E85 is 85% ethanol and standard gas is 15% ethonol

hey man so im ordering a tuner from them rn and i bought a bunch of parts pretty much everything i need (LU47 injectors, cai, IM, TB) and am selecting the parts i bought on lunds site rn my point is should i put them on the same day i get my tuner/first tune in ? or will i need to datalog my car rn w the tuner and THEN get a new tune and put the parts on or will the tune come already adjusted to those parts ??

The tune is gonna be setup for those parts, so if you upload the tune before installing the parts, the car is gonna run like absolute shit. If you install the parts and dont flash the tune, same thing. So install everything first, then flash tune.

So for the flex fuel you basically have to plug in the tune every time you’re going to switch from 91 to e85 or vice versa

The flex will adjust accordingly… but I didn’t like driving that one

Shoot $64 ain't bad for e85. 91 octane here in Utah for me costs me $59 to fill up an Ecoboost. On the GT do you have to upgrade the injectors or fuel pump to run e85?

E85 used to be significantly cheaper than 87. Usually $0.40 or more difference. It is much less fuel efficient.

So my car is on the flex tune and I just threw a full tank of E85 in it. And now I’m like half way empty the rpm’s jump up and down on idle on coming to s stop at low rpm. Is that normal ? Should I throw it on the e85 r tune ?

Yes. That’s why I don’t like the flex tune. It’s designed just for transitioning from e85 to pump and vice versa. Don’t drive on that one.

Exactly right. I forgot exactly what the tank size is, but every time I get it to 0 and then fill up, its like 4 gallons short of the tank size.

Yes. You buy an HP Tuners RTD device, Lund sends you the tune with instructions, and you flash it to your car.

Stock injectors. 2018+ 5.0s can run e85 with just a tune.
