We were doing that in the 1980's as we all had 2 Strokes!! 😂 a oxy/acy torch works best..you gotta use what you got but if your doing something you need proper equipment...don't over inflate it as they BURST ...sharp dents/creases can be taken out too... just takes a different technique..only the big dents matter in fact...the small creases are not worth dealing with...use pipe guards to save your pipe too...

Learning to do it yourself is the best option...you can do it cheaper at hime and save time too... we did this ourselves...i raced in 70's to 90's and everyone did this themselves...

Built one back in the 80's, still have it. It's hydraulic, compresses water. You have to anneal the dents before filling with water, works great.

I made one of them in 1986 been doing that for 30 years.Every aftermarket shop did that .It is a money maker .There's a kit that uses pressured water with no heat and a hand water pump. Don't give up all your secrets.

Thanks for the review! I am going to send you some longer bolts and another muffler end gasket. That CR250 setup did look sketchy. We include longer bolts when we know the setup is for a CR250 or RM250 so the clamps on the muffler end can be put below the mounting tang. Much safer and the clamp will fit the pipe correctly as well. Pipes turned out great. Good job.

These Kits are a great tool, mine is similar with relief valve. Just Braze the small pin holes.
@jakeresnick26692 жыл бұрын
I've done plenty of them with that kit it works but extremely dangerous using that much pressure but got to do it I always worry if it will blow or not ive seen tires blow with 30 psi only is no joke
@coloradodirtbike59302 жыл бұрын
Metal and sealed high psi with a heated pipe... if it bursts that's like a grenade going off. I fill my dented pipes up with water and cap the ends then I'll put it in a big freezer for a day or two and it has fixed the majority of damage on my chambers.

@garymallard46992 жыл бұрын
You can buy expanding rubber plugs used for plumbing that seal the ends and one has the valve in it...like this setup..we made ours too back then..having it grab from other side seals better and it doesn't BLOW OUT VIOLENTLY... safety people... we used truck mudflap for rubber but any thick material works... they made these back in 80's for sale too were about $100 then..so most made cheaper ones at home..lol

Works way better with 100psi, little less heating

Gary Mallard pipe guards actually make the pipe bend out of shape more easily it saves dents but will make the entire pipe bend when hit hard or dropped to the left , I took off my pipe guard for that reason rather have little dents than a header that touches the frame it’s so bent

Dude what’s happened to your channel, I use to be a huge fan now since you moved it’s like you barley upload and when you do it’s not really interesting. Sucks to see as I watched you all the time and learnt from them when I started out but we wanna see you digging into a 30 year old bike and doing a whole build series but not wasting money or doing budget builds and maybe race them with other budget builds or something along those lines. I really hope you listen because the channel is dying and don’t wanna see you stop uploading like you already have been. It would be sick to do another full build with Adam like that straight rhythm rm250 as that was so fun to watch and even watch it still to this day
@garymallard46992 жыл бұрын
Common for a Channel to lose content..then go to simple stuff to try to stay relevant....this is a good tip...but i raced 2 Strokes for 15 years and they showed this in MXA & DIRT BIKE back in the early 80's at least? we already were doing this in the 70's too...i had Downpipes then..lol later we had up pipes and added guards for dent protection....nothing new to some of us..but a good tip for young un's

Most damaged pipes are also misaligned so that they do not fit well in the exhaust port. Does this process correct alignment?
@robh32672 жыл бұрын
You should actually wash as much oil as you can from inside of the pipe first, the amount of pressure you were using can split seams, use caution in those areas, the heat marks will polish out of the nickle finish with some cutting compound and a buffer, dents that are closer to the smaller area after the manifold will have the greatest affect on performance, small dents in the larger chamber portion of the pipe have no real affect on performance they just look bad, if the pipe becomes distorted where it doesn't fit right or won't seal at the manifold then it has to be replaced.

Looking for help with a random question-in the video about pit bikes-I think one of the calipers was frozen and you could identify the replacement pad from a catalog with “ghost” outlines-my daughter’s Chinese side by side needs new pads and I can’t seem to find them anywhere or frankly know where to look-that catalog or supplier I suspect would be really helpful to get her back up and going All the best

I've always been told you should use water instead of air because the air will make it explode more if it bursts. Using a pressure washer works good too I've seen.
@jamesgibson58762 жыл бұрын
Water dosent compress and hold energy to release if the container fails...air does compress and is like a spring when released all at once

@richiehayhurst81752 жыл бұрын
Very much so
@tejdz13372 жыл бұрын
the expansion chamber is what MAKES the powercurve on a 2 stroke. it uses resonance and shockwaves in the exhaust gases to supercharge the cylinder. the different shapes of the expansion chambers makes it resonate at different rpms and over different ranges
@garymallard46992 жыл бұрын
Yes...the shape changes the powerband on a 2 Stroke depending on how it is shaped and flows...you could get lower grunt..or higher rpm's or more mid-range..etc .. plus look faster too...with a Custom pipe!!...i raced 15 years on 2 Strokes..125 , 250 & 500 classes 2 per year at least...
