I had a mistaken thought that Prof.Bethwel Ogot had passed on!Good gracious he is alive and spewing knowledge here.Kenyans beware.This is the man with the longest CV Kenya has ever had today.The resume must be some 130 pages.He headed a UNESCO funded research comprising several other African history scholars as on wether Afrika ever had history of its own before the white man arrived. Holy gosh. The world was perplex and awed with the resultant 9 series/volumes that unearthed the superiorily rich Afrikan history that covered East,West,Central,South and Northern Afrikan territories which proven just how Western civilisation was late and dwaf to that of early Afrika. God bless you wuod Gem Siaya Kababa.His late wife Hon. Grace Ogot was also a prolific writer,nurse,teacher,Beijing women champion and a multi-party icon.

Kit Mikai in Sene is a historical place but not well maintained. There are huge rocks with the map of kenya that I've never seen anywhere in Kenya 🇰🇪. Luos need to preserve, maintain, educate, and maintain our history and culture for future Luo generations. Without culture, we are nothing. There used to be spiritual healing places and well preserved by spiritual healers. Thank you for the historical information.

These books which used to be left on our study table by my Form 5 siblings opened my eyes and mind while I was in middle primary school. By the time I was in class 7,I could debate a F3 student as an equivalent. By the time I was in high school myself,I was the consultant of my peers.I was merely doing revision at that stage and complementing that with higher books such as the Nikita Khrushchev, the Song of Lawino et cetra. Just reminiscing please, no offence.

This professor should be forgiven for making false claims, especially about Ugandan Luo. The majority group in Uganda is Bantu, followed by Ateker (I belong here). Luo (Acholi, Adhola, Alur, and Jonam) are far from being the majority group in Uganda. Although Langi and Kumam learned Luo language and integrated it into their dialects, they are not Luo. Let's speak and write the truth. Prof., don't be like papd3532, who is bent on falsifying history.

Now see...Most bantus in Uganda are luos infact all of them.. They just speak a bantu language.. Go do your research well.. When it comes to the langi..yes they are Ateker who speak a Luo language and they proudly say they are luo because most of them intermarried and most of them have the Luo blood than the ateker blood but all in all Ateker and luos are Nilotes... Let's stop spreading hared!

@@AngwenLaura You're gonna provoke many folks with your comment. It is true in history that the Luo overran kingdoms in Bunyoro, and Tooro. Their kings to this day have Luo names. However, they got assimilated to Bantu groups. Luo didn't conquer Ankole kingdom and so, didn't get to Kigezi. Ankole and Kigezi regions have no Luo connection. Even if we give Langi/Lango to Luo, they still can't be the majority population in Uganda. No hatred here, just attempting to explain the correct history.

L@Joseph-th1pj Lango and Kumam are luo and they have been identified by that for hundreds years without seeing themselves as Ateker not until 2024. They are our brothers. politicians want to divide us and some few lango and kumam want to buy it. Ateker are also our nilote brothers. I can feel your hatred for luo, Relax.
@ociradaniel7276Күн бұрын
For your information there is no history which says that Lango and Kumam are Ateker. Stop cooking history. Lango are trying to rewrite their own history to distance themselves from the luo people for the reason they best know. The good thing is that ,the ateker community has accepted them and yet they barely understand the language of ateker. Don't tell me they lost their language because of acholi, that's false claim and pure stupidity. Lango are luo and speak luo language. Lango population is bigger than acholi, and they have their own sub region. How can a bigger population influence smaller population to an extent of loosing the language? Justify, pure lies.
