Michael Lattimore A true freestyle!! Off the dome, not written. Thats how its done. Alot of great artists freestyle on Sway's show. But im always dissapointed. They come on the show and you can tell their freestyle is something they wrote. Spittin fast as hell, no pauses, and everything rhymes perfectly. Lupe went on for a while, pure talent, straight off the dome. That was amazing.

However when your not doing 5 fingers of death and simply want to chill out and freestyle, this is a perfect example where asking to switch the beat is a definite. Cameron Martin he had his phone face down during the freestyle....

Obviously, but based on him looking at notes immediately after rapping I suspect he very likely looked at the notes before he began his "freestyle".

nah man.. this was definitely a free style if he had notes and stuff already written it would not matter what the beat was.

Coming back to this freestyle knowing what I commented a year ago, I rescind and retract my statement because I now known what Lupe Fiasco is about and how many layers there are to his words. So, with that in mind, I listened to the freestyle with a new insight and breadth of knowledge. No disrespect was intended. Well, looking back, I was just saying what I thought of it; I wasn't saying that he's terrible. Yeah, I think back then also, I didn't realise that the other 'freestyles' weren't complete improvisation, so of course they sounded better with more rhymes and things. I probably wasn't listening to his words, so I just thought it was nonsense. It's easily done with a very complex lyricist. So, anyway, I'm coming back to say that I now think it WAS amazing because it was structured rather than just trying to rhyme a lot. Apologies if I offended anyone. What can I say? I was ignorant. It's always funny looking back on how you were, and you think: wow, I was so ignorant. And I don't mean ignorant as in stupid, I mean in the literal sense of the word. Freestyling off the top is one thing, but to do it so it all links and is well-structured is another.

@brettcole80469 жыл бұрын
Haha I wasn't comparing Lillard to the greats. I was just saying, for someone whose career is the NBA, the dude had bars. It was a nice surprise. I wasn't expecting him to like go as deep as he did, but the dude like really made you feel some type of way and put you in his shoes. I mean, this may be a long shot to say but I think if Lillard were to ever get sidelined permanently (God forbid), he could definitely earn respect in the realm of rapping. That's my personal opinion.

There's a distinct difference between freestyle and mixing several writtens with a couple of add ons. I'm not even gonna get started on guys who rap off a phone or spit lyrics from upcoming singles. Now I have nothing against shit written for a show and adding a couple of bars of your own but this is real freestyle. It wasn't at all rehearsed and it wasn't perfect but that's what makes it so authentic. Anyone that comes on and everything sounds perfect, they thought of it beforehand. You know it's real when some lines don't click or there's a couple of repeats. Yet when you listen carefully there's gold to be found. Rest assured as with everything Lupe does, he comes up with gold. The smartest rapper we've ever had, he may not be your favourite rapper but there's no denying he's a great. We need the old Lupe back though Food&Liqour and TheCool are classics in every sense of the word.

Lupe's freestyle game today is otherworldly he was already one of the best. I know he did drill music in Zion off the top of his head and it was a whole concept album. He is a very underrated rapper but if you know you know. If he hadn't signed at 360 deal and fought back against the label we don't know how big he could be.

People say they want real rap and Hip-Hop. If you visit the other channels where there are rappers like Young Thug, Rich Homie Quan & Migos, you'll hear them complaining bout how the world of Hip-Hop has turned to a disaster. The funniest shit is that Hip Hop fans are full of Hypocrisy. Lupe has always been one of the few rappers who lyrically paints a picture of his thoughts about world aspects, but he get almost few attention. If you really love true Hip-Hop don't brag about it, support who spits pure lyricism.
@GrandCross10 жыл бұрын
THANK YOU! Very few true lyricist left in the game that can inspire. This is why I hold on to being a Lupe fan. Man is a genius but no one ever gives him the true recognition he deserves. I hope hip-hop will return to its roots
@OakCliffTX829 жыл бұрын
Hip hop is full of hypocrisy. On one hand we say that real music never gets respect, but when it does then suddenly it's too mainstream or the mc is a sellout. We want to be recognized, but if I hear about one of those Kardashians at a Mic Jenkins show... I'm a be pissed
@hunter103919 жыл бұрын
there are plenty of artists that spit pure lyricism.king los, tory lanez, fabo, lloyd banks..etc. i know lupe probably is up there with king los and kendrick but cmon man. a lot of his music is boring. he's basically a political rapper. it gets boring real quick when he basically is being the world news and talking about everything that goes in the world. just bc he talks about political and racial issues with some nice metaphors dosent make him a lyrical genius. and yes sometimes the stuff does sound so advanced that u really don't understand it. I'm aware of that but that dosent make him one of the best. he's just speaking about stuff nobody relates to
