I feel you brother. I think the advances in engineering over the decades rival the cell phone without all of the marketing hype so you're free to admire it without making a quasi-religious statement. The machine itself is humble and honest and ones that perform well are like fine carpenters. They are the labradors of the home appliance world.

Please don't buy it. I bought it because I saw this review and thought let's give it a try. After one and a half year of using it I am extremely disappointed. We need to clean and wash the whole vacuum after each use because the suction is so bad it doesn't take sand. It's only good with light dust but if my kids bring a bit of sand it just doesn't take it. I feel like this vacuum that was used for testing is somehow better than the ones sold by the company. Seriously my Lupe vacuum cleaner performs so bad, that I started to miss my 15 year old vacuum that was loud and heavy but at least my house was clean.

Bought this vacuum based on this review. They are having a 30% off sale in October which made it come in at $250 CAD less than a dyson (I’m in Canada). We have a yellow lab and 2 rabbits which means hair and hay dust are a serious issue. It shipped in about a week - which is less than most products I’ve purchased from the US. I also purchased an additional battery. So far here’s how it’s doing: Pros: All the things in this video are true to my experience so far. it seamlessly moves from carpet to floor and the exhaust blows air up so the hair on the floor stays put to be cleaned. It’s tiny and light and you can store it upright or disassemble for tight spaces - I actually take it apart (which takes 30seconds) and store it in a deep drawer in our TV cabinet because it’s beside the dog beds. Filtration - normally when I vacuum, my air purifiers go nuts and this doesn’t happen even when I vacuum right next to them. Being able to attach tools to the hose and the long arm ended up being way more powerful that I thought. I was able to vacuum stairs and then do the moulding and ceiling corners without much fuss. Lupe service was highly responsive - I intentionally reached out a ton to inquire about shipping to see how the responsiveness would be - after all they sell it in parts so the service has to be there - and was pleasantly surprised. Cons: coming from a traditional vacuum the bin feels pretty small and the design of it could be improved as hair and dust get caught in places that would make you handle to reach into the bin but truthfully I e never done that and I’ve always washed my vacuum bins/filters regularly. Battery - for this to really support you on a deep clean of a home you need a backup battery. I have 2 flights of carpeted stairs, and two floors of rooms and with all the pets and traffic use it on high to do the steps. For more routine cleaning, 1 battery is enough. Another con of the battery is that there isn’t a place to store the charger with the vacuum. We keep it in a drawer so it’s not a big deal but if I were to store it upright, not having the battery cord and charger mounted nearby would be annoying. Con: it’s lighter, but on high power the suction with the weight on the unit is on your wrist. This isn’t a con that isn’t true of any other upright vacuum but worth noting because any vacuum with a lot of swivel will do that and the weight being at the bottom just creates a different kind of resistance. Last up - you might want to purchase an additional filter to avoid the 24hour downtime to dry. Overall: even with the extra battery it was cheaper than a dyson, it picks up pet hair and debris fast, it makes stairs, and jobs like car seats easy with the carry+hose format and I really like how tiny it is. Overall worth the money in my opinion. Hope this helps!

Yes! I was waiting for this review. I got mine from the kickstarter a few days ago and so far have been very happy with it. Those complaining about the price are forgetting that this vacuum is supposed to be a lifetime investment and if a part breaks you just replace that part not get a whole new machine. Like the saying goes “Buy cheap, buy twice” or for vacuums many many times. The things that are important to me are effective suction - just less that 12 hours after my house was professionally cleaned and vacuumed the Lupe managed to pull out loads of dust, noise - much quieter than my dyson v10 and ease of emptying the dustbin - filter removes from the top so no areas for it to get caught.
@Sandriell
@Sandriell 3 жыл бұрын
Problem with thinking about it as a lifetime purchase is that technology is constantly improving. Batteries get bigger, motors more powerful, materials get lighter, etc. In 5-10 years this vacuum will be entirely obsolete in comparison to modern ones, and really any modern, decent vacuum can last 5-10 years. And for something that is supposed to be a built for long-term ownership and is, as they call it, "best in class longevity", why are the only willing to stand behind it for 2 years. It should have a 5 year warranty, minimum I feel. I tried out the whole "life-time" vacuum thing once when buying a very expensive Kirby vacuum. In reality though it got about 10 years of practical life out of it before it just could no longer match up to modern vacuums- especially in the sheer weight of the thing!
@redcherry71
@redcherry71 3 жыл бұрын
@@Sandriell the reason I say it’s a lifetime vacuum is not because every part of the vacuum will last forever but because the parts are made to be easily repairable and upgradable. Hence why the warranty is 2 years too. If the battery dies or head stops working properly or there’s an upgrade to the brush head with LED lights you can do this easily and relatively cheaply. This is the young company’s ethos. Have a look at their kickstarter video.

How do you feel it will compare to Miele triflex hx1 another Dyson challenger
@redcherry71
@redcherry71 3 жыл бұрын
@@mattgibbs6732 it’s difficult to guess but this KZbinr has tested both but not compared the two. kzbin.info/www/bejne/iKqyfmOrqsunm8U I watched the Miele review and it seemed a bit more fussy to me with swapping to different configurations. I like that the Lupe doesn’t have a lot of accessories and parts that you have to store and that I tend to hide too well and then spend half an hour looking for a tool. It’s difficult to guess the comparison of the performance though. Hopefully Vacuum Wars will do another head to head test in the near future. I’m trying to be impartial but I’ve had it for over a month and I am SO happy. The only real negative is that my super shedding wool carpet does wrap around the bristles but it’s also easy to clean. My dog’s hair and my long hair has not been an issue though.
@mbk337
@mbk337 3 жыл бұрын
Yeah, the price is the tough. If I lived alone, with no pets, this would be a no-brainer for me. That being said, I think durability and the ability to swap parts out as needed is really a solid selling point. I have replaced parts on my Dysons countless times, which is great, but also shows that they are almost built with parts that wear out. Hopefully this is built with a more "just in case" mentality.

Based on this review we purchased and received a Lupe Pure vacuum. After a month of use I can unconditionally say it's the best vacuum available on the market. We ordered an additional battery significantly adding convenience. My only recommendation is adding 12 inches in length to the extendable hose. Fills all of our needs from house cleaning to vacuuming the car. We have bought several vacuums over 40 years.. A neighbour loves his new Lupe. Yes, it is powerful enough to K.O. mice on the underside of the floorboards, but it is also incredibly, ear-splittingly loud and produces a similar level of pandemonium to the mains powered, headlamp glowering upright my Grandma had in the 70s. Only with a lot more high pitched screeching. And unless I missed it "noise" isn't a score metric. I make the point because in comparison our dog-eared Dyson V8 seems quite literally silent. Is that not important?

I bought this based on your review - The Lupe had lots of shortcomings. The bin is a deal breaker. Because of it's location, you can't tell when it's full. Because they tinted the plastic on the bin, you have to get on one knee and try to see if it's full. If you waited too long, all the rubbish wraps around the filter. Then when you try to empty the bin, the latch ALWAYS hangs up so you have to push it open and then, most of the time reach your hand into the bin to pull out the rubbish. This is easily the worst design for a bin to empty. Combine that with it's basically useless on small rugs. The only place it actually does shine is on tile floors. It works great. On carpet? You raved about it. In my use, I would vacuum the carpet with the Lupe. Then I'd vacuum right after with the Dyson V11 and Dyson still picked up lots of hair that apparently the Lupe missed. I love the idea of this machine. But the bin being so hard to empty and to see if it's too full -- just a deal breaker. Your videos are always well done. But because on this particular video where you have the vacuum elevated to get in frame it shows the full vacuum and the bin. It's very deceiving, because in REAL use, you don't have your vacuum at eye-level. I should have been smarter when watching this video to realize this was a setup I'd never use at home vs being on a set for video.

Hello, I am an electrical engineer and was wondering: would you be interested to add some electronics analysis in your review? @davek2977
@davek2977 3 жыл бұрын
These are tough to do, you would need to really disassemble the vacuum all the way down to get to the electronics. Then your test method is not standardised. The controller circuit you can analyse the chips used and what company makes them / what they are rated at but you would also need to monitor current draw over time to determine how long they might last. Still a guess at best. Batteries are easier but usually the company tells you the chemistry, and you can make a judgement call from there (i.e. Lithium ion ~85% max capacity after a year of daily use) The battery capacity in Ah is useful to know in phones where the power draw is a known chip but vacuum motors are not consistent in their draw as it depends heavily on the design and where you are vacuuming.
@draglorde
@draglorde 3 жыл бұрын
@@davek2977you are right, it is not easy. It would require disassembly to the boards and even more (look at topology, component selection,...) all this gives a good guess thought of the quality. I have the Bosch. Great at picking up dirt on carpet, but it’s basically a dustbuster. Empty every single time, hard to clean filter, and you can’t manoeuvre in tight spaces, or for that matter, under low cupboards. Mine is 6 months old and I’m ready to dump it for an easy clean filter vac. Overpriced dustbuster.

Nice all the things I want in a cordless vac. Price seems ok for the high end of the market its playing in. A Dyson V11 costs a lot more in Australia than this does.

"...durability and the ability to swap parts out as needed is really a solid selling point." Only works if the company stays in business or someone picks up manufacturing replacement parts. And the latter only occurs when there are tons of products sold like Chevrolet, etc. If Lupe goes, so does the chance for replacement parts. I do like the design & effort put into this vac. Still too expensive for me.

A part of me wishes I hadnt bought a Dyson V11 now. This Lupe does look very good. One thing this review didn't show, was any footage of how noisy the vacuum is. Dyson us very quiet, at least on low and med power. Would like to see a few more Lupe attachments though, but the same is true for V11 which makes stair cleaning kind of a nuisance

The Lupe is not excessively noisy. About what you'd expect. I've used the V11 and can't say I thought the V11 was quiet at all. The floor brush on the Lupe is so much better. And it stands on its own!

Couldn’t be happier with this vacuum! We started with a dyson v7 and had that for a long time. Had a decent amount of suction, was versatile, etc. It was a great vacuum but like all cordless devices, batteries get weak in time. Since that series pre-dated replaceable batteries we were kind of stuck. On to the Lupe. The lupe blows the dyson out of the water everywhere. I’m sure a v11 or upcoming v12 are very nice vacuums but why the heck is the motor and canister in the handle? I never put much thought into why our 5 year old v7 was designed that way, just accepted it. Once we had the lupe it all made sense and my memories of old bagged vacuum uprights came flooding back. Duh, a vacuum should just kind of stand there and wait for you to come back. My walls are happier for it since I’m not leaning a vacuum on everything, playing the balancing act or trying to not trip on it. It’s just a far more practical design. We bought the lupe back in November of 2020. So happy we did. Powerful, maneuverable, very very versatile (attachment setups with onboard storage makes it much more useful than the dyson), easy to clean/maintain, battery lasts a long time (I can vacuum 2500’sq/ft of tile on almost one charge. I bought a second battery with the vacuum purchase so it’s never an issue. We have two Great Danes, a couple of kids and my wife has long hair. Hair hasn’t been an issue, no more so than any other vacuum I’ve had. It picks up small and large stuff easily. It gets plenty of use with our two dogs going in and outside all day. Yes pricey. I considered the v11 quite significantly, and for the cost comparison between the two, I figured: ‘in for a penny, in for a pound’ so there it is.

Miele HX1 suction is disappointing for its price point. Battery life is also poor since you need to run on higher power to get reasonable suction. Miele biggest blunder is the dustbin design. The cleaning process is a lesson in frustration. Best part of the Miele is it stands on its own.

Great video as always. Could you please review the new Anker / Eufy "Homevac S11 Infinity" or compare it to the Dyson V8 / V10 please? It appears to be nearly identical to the V10 but w a replaceable battery, more accys, & slightly less power (120AW) @ half the price (currently on Sale for $209 @ Amazon). I spent a lot of time watching your reviews over the last few weeks, prior to purchasing my new V10 Absolute. The in depth research & real world performance data you provided was very helpful and appreciated. I just received my V10 and am genuinely impressed with it! Def the best vacuum I've ever used on hardwood, which is about 60% of my condo! I showed it to my neighbor & she was equally impressed but doesn't have $500 for the V10. I said the S11 could be a great budget option, but there are virtually no in depth reviews or performance comparisons available for it yet, so any info would be very helpful and with it being 30% off right now on AMZ, I'm sure a lot of your other viewers would be interested in your opinion of it as well.
