Seriously, you guys need to write a book and get it published!!! With your knowledge and a beautiful property/garden, not mention your charm and good looks, it would be a hit. It might take some time so get started.

You had me at charm and good looks. hahaha In all seriousness, Lars has thought about it --- so it's in the idea notebook for sure :)

Have discovered your channel recently and must tell you both do a great job design wise with the space you have. The garden looks so well organized and still stays friendly. I'm looking forward to going back and watching all the other videos. Also, I never realized you could make Lupin cuttings so easily!

Very helpful advice. Lupins seem to do really well in my garden and surprisingly the slugs don't seem to attack them. Other plants aren't as lucky!
@perennial-garden2 ай бұрын
Crazy that the slugs don't like them! That's wonderful for you... they LOVEEEE them here. My goodness.

Not sure why i never thought of lupine cuttings? I have a fairly established one that i am sure i could get plently of cutting from. Thank you.
@perennial-garden2 ай бұрын
Go for it! We love it -- we grow a lot from seeds, too. But cuttings is just as easy and you're sure to get the exact copy you're after. Plus, it helps since some of ours are sterile.

I can only grow lupine under my holly tree in amongst all the sharp holly leaf litter. Otherwise they just vanish. Snails LOVE them!
@perennial-gardenАй бұрын
That is a great natural snail deterrent! Our slugs love them here... so we have to keep an eye on them.

My Lupins are quite immature, grown from seed this spring. Probably, they are not getting sufficient sun. I’ve been reluctant to move them because of their tap root. Maybe your propagation technique will work for me over the winter. Va zone 7a.
@perennial-garden2 ай бұрын
Yeah... they hate being moved. A lot of lupines take a year before flowering -- you can get flowers the first year, but grown from seed, they might not flower until year 2. So hopefully next year will be better for you :)

I have tried twice to grow from starter plants from the nursery - this is a perennial I can't seem to keep alive. :( Zone 7 on East Coast of US. Any thoughts ?
@perennial-garden2 ай бұрын
They do love well-draining soil and full sun... if they get that, they should grow easily even in your zone. Sorry to hear that they don't work so well for you!

Why would you not grow from seed?
@perennial-garden2 ай бұрын
We do. But cuttings give a true copy of the parent plant.
