Sir very well explained.... My question is if any loco pilot experienced Lurch at higher speed with higher notches what should lp do.....is he should ease the notches OR ease the notches with partial braking OR is he should apply emergency brake to stop the train. Because in all cases enquiry officers may blame loco pilots that if derailment happens it may be due to operational mistake.....either they may ask why braking done or why not brake applied..... At that movement loco pilot may not judge that ,train may derail or not.... He will apply brake to minimise the damage or dragging.... What should locopilot do ?

It’s a very good question and I have explained this practical problem many times in my class. As per G&SR rules LP need not to stop the train. He has to note down the location km and report it to advance SM by stopping at Home Sig. Brake application is LP discretion. If you feel stopping is necessary to observe the track, you can do so, but same time be careful about derailing at high speed. If train is at low speed then no problem. Question will be asked in the inquiry, don’t worry, our duty is to explain our actions. If any question is asked to LP, it doesn’t mean that LP is blamed. Many times people are asking about “Booked to Office “ problems, Don’t worry, go and explain your situation. Once you are doing correctly to the best of your knowledge & ability, why you should have fear. LPs are most hard working people and everyone should give respect to our LPs. They are also working like Army Soldiers. Thank you for asking this question and giving me opportunity to explain, it will help many LPs who read my explanation.

As per the Rule before clearing Block Section inform to SM and then clear the block section & give written memo to the SM

As per written rules there is no restriction. Any train can be sent. But practically Control Office may take decisions as per situation.
