Just found your channel great video.This reminds me of my dad and I making poppers when I was growing up in hawai'i.We would use wire fishing leader for the hooks we would drill a hole from the front all the way to the back then from the bottom at an angle.Then we would run the wire leader from front to the bottom hole then out through the back.

What’s up brother! Just used this video as a guide to make my first lure (although it looked significantly less aesthetic than yours haha). I caught a giant redfish on it the next day. I love your videos. I'm really getting into them. I have learned a lot from you. You build a beautiful lure. I've been fly tying for years and want to started making and painting wood lures. I'm having trouble finding those round wood rods in Balsa or popular. I'm gonna make some frogs out of Balsa, because it's a light wood. I'm also gonna make Bass Poppers and Bream Poppers. I mostly like Fly Fishing so I need light Poppers. Where can I find those round wood rods in Balsa and Popular?? The only round wood rods I can find comes from China. The way shipping is now it would be July before I could get an order from China. Keep up the GREAT work and keep the videos coming. Thanks

@BakerBuilds11 ай бұрын
Hey Tim! I haven’t had much experience with doing that on baits or with an airbrush. I know that painting over other oil based paints requires a primer. Possibly scuffing the bait pre water based paint 🤷♂️. Not 100% sure. Sorry about that.

Great video, I've not made a lure before as I thought you needed to have wire going through the middle, would I be right in thinking superglued in eyes are strong enough, this model looks good, I might try making one now . Tight Lines
@BakerBuilds Жыл бұрын
I would recommend using a two part epoxy or something stronger the regular super glue for the line ties. A through wire is probably stronger! However I have never had one glued in like these pull out 👍

I have never made a wood lure before but just got to the part where you are considering adding weight or not. Did you consider floating the piece of wood prior to drawing your eye and gills? Seems to me that each piece of wood would have a natural heaving side. Float in a small plastic bowl filled with water to see which side naturally rolls to the bottom. Just an idea! Great video. Keep them coming! GP
