I've had other BPM baits kzbin.infoUgkxCbNOWAGmn6nfbCbJDmasvBq7J38KZNw2 before and they've pretty much always came through for me with the suskie smallies here and even with the walleye and pike, but I realized I didn't have an "in-between" pattern so this junebug one fills that role in no problem. it pairs up magnificently with a junebug Zoom Z-craw Jr that was trimmed a couple millimeters before the hook slots and rigged sideways for that fatter panfish side profile while still being a nice'n'compact presentation, a real power-finesse bait. Hell, it was so pretty I even bothered to fotosketch the pic into a watercolor painting image just to show you it's beauty! Even the blades are really well made, sure, they're not of Hildebrandt-level exquisiteness but look at the bead's reflection on the colorado blade, definitely well-made! The only "problem" spot it had was a bald spot in the skirt but it was nothing that I couldn't easily fix with a but of tuggin'n'shiftin' with the strands for a couple of seconds, besides that it is pretty minty!

Also love how you put your baits on a gravitational roller when you're applying your epoxy that shows how much experience you actually have I've seen so many people just apply epoxy but myself I like to use a gravitational roller like you're using there because it helps the epoxy to move where it needs to move to and not just sit in one spot

I always preferred the "split down the middle" approach to bait making. It allows for the wire to be run exactly how you want, and also allows for weight channels to be in the exact spots you want. Can even do loose lead shot so you can do rattle baits easily. We have big pike here everywhere I fish for bass with crankbaits, so through wire is just the best design when it comes to getting the odd 20lb pike. Even when it's not needed, it gives you that extra bit of confidence that your homemade bait is not going to be the weak point in the setup.

I've used both "Bondo" and CA + soda and the problem with some bondo brands is that it might shrink after some time when the bondo layer is thick, CA + soda does not shrink. Epoxy repair putty would be the optimal solution for plugging the lead holes.

Haha! Great bait! As a Marling and Solar Baits fan, I take no offense from the baking soda shots! The great thing about bait making is that you can really do whatever you want with it as long as it works. I believe baking soda/ superglue method is so popular because if you are making lures, you’ll most likely have super glue on hand, and almost everyone can grab some baking soda out of their pantry without having to go out and buy bondo
@SolarfallBaits3 жыл бұрын
I'm just poking a little fun on nate. Hes a good guy so its all just some friendly banter. Anyway i've been pretty active on the forums before facebook and instagram i've never came accross the method until i saw it in marling baits video so he could be the originator of the method

@@SolarfallBaits Baking Soda and superglue has been used for packing up the slots in guitar nuts if the top action on a guitar is too low ( a buzzing string or two ) it's been used for decades and I've used this formula myself twenty five years ago as I found it mentioned in a guitar repair book. It's used because it's dense and tough, perfect for Good sound resonance. It's tough to file so for a filler on lures I personally wouldn't want to use it unless for something that needed that extra strength, I'd prefer using bondo as you did or car body filler which is pretty much the same as two part wood filler ( smells the same and sands the same ) we used it in the wood shop where I used to work 👍

Good job! However if I can make a suggestion... Why dont you seal the wood with a thick superglue? Ten times faster that Olympic wood sealer displayed in this video. You can still add the epoxy afterwards if you wish, but a thick superglue would do the trick I reckon. Unless you have a specific reason of course.
