Lure Review- Rapala X-Rap Slashbait

I just started fishing again after about ten years or so. I used to catch a lot of chub in small creeks as a kid and bullhead, bluegill, pumpkinseed, and green sunfish in Lake Ontario tribs and bays. Recently all i have been able to catch is more of those same panfish. I picked up the 08 in gold and today nabbed my first small mouth and my first black crappie on my first casts under a bridge in a larger creek, back to back! Fun was over when I smacked the lure against the side of the bridge and broke the lip off (oops) but I was pumped to have caught something i never have before. Caught one more small mouth on a crawler and had to get going. This is the first stick bait i have ever even used. Looks like i made the right choice! I'm still learning how to catch some new species and these lures are just the edge i need!

I own 7 different versions and colorations of the X rap. Honest to god its the crown jewel of my collection. In open water I caught a 8 1/4 pound largemouth that landed me an invite to join the Bassmasters. In the green watermelon color you will own the lake up in Maine!

Nice lures, I like these in clown, yellow perch, and glass ghost. also work well for me when trolling in the evening for walleye

I was up in the MN Boundary Waters in May and the X Rap Gold was great. I was the only guy out of our 8 man group would was catching Walleye and it was on the X Rap XR10 Gold.

Caught a 46" muskie on the x rap the natural minnow color with red in it. So cool and had a walleye on right after. Never had so much luck fishing until i bought this lure. You must jerk it then pause it , the fish bite on the pause.

xraps dominate the fish scene,.. landed all my fish (bass/walleye) this year on the xrap 8s and 10s ,.. those and the live target pumpkinseed have killed it for me

Lucky Craft Pointer dominates the bass fishing scene. It outsells and out fishes all others combined. You won't buy them because they cost twice as much and you can't do the math. ;)

when casting, x rap does not fly like a torpedo, but scrolls a little in the air. is this normal or is it a marriage? after all, the wobbler must have a long-distance casting system

Could you do a rapala series with a lot of those lures like the jointed, countdown, original, husky jerk etc. or an xrap series with the x rap line of lures.

I take the trebbles off and replace them with Eagle Claw trebbles. The feather tails slow it down and make it not slash as good

+Emil Tjonneland I would say the lure is probably toast. As far as the durability of the lure goes, they have been pretty good to me in my experience. I've only had one or two of them break.
