Hey Allie be careful... I used to have the same hair routine, and look at me now (hehe). Just kidding of course. I've got some great hair stories about trying to cover up my bald spot before losing all my hair, but those are for another time. Your not kidding about east coast humidity...sweating just thinking about it. I love Franks catch, and love your vids. Love & Peace ,,,Jay

I am 55 years old been dealing with curly hair my whole life always kept it right between waist and shoulder blade level decided that I was getting older maybe I should try a short hairstyle last December... went to my hairdresser and said cut it off at the shoulders... do I have to tell you what happened? LOL thank God my hair grows fast it's already down to just above my shoulder blades... they didn't have all these products when I was a young girl I've been using a mister frizz product for several years and it seems to work I need to try the one that you got though.. I've always had curly wavy hair and being a ginger doesn't help and then at 28 I was diagnosed with cervical cancer as a young recently divorced mom, and I had hair down between my butt and my knees and when it started falling out my best friend cut it off right at my scalp level and sewed it into the back of a baseball cap so it look like I was still wearing a ponytail being is I've always ridden motorcycles or horses I've always kept my hair in a ponytail or a braid especially barrel racing and stuff like that so I've always worn a bandana so wearing a bandana underneath my ball cap nobody really paid attention... when she did this she also shaved her head and my son wanted to shave his head also... the reason I'm saying this is because when my hair grew back I turned into literally a curly q and learn how to deal with my hair all over again but in the more intense way... LOL the funny thing is out of 11 kids I'm the only one with curly hair and my dad's red hair... thank you for doing this video I'm going to try your steps was the new product and see how it works... And just think people pay thousands of dollars to have a spiral perm... My friend used to be so mad at me in the 80s... LOL

Hi, Allie. I wanted to come back to this video because I watched it yesterday and was in awe of how you handle you multitudinous blessing of healthy follicles. While this was a question that has often come to mind when a video begins first thing in the A.M., I've always beenshy about asking leading questions about another individual's personal grooming habits. Anyway, your hair has always looked amazing. I've had no idea how you've maintained it other than having a personal stylist who travels in another van, place to place. Obviously, this person has been fixing your locks after your first waking and prior to the second (albeit, "first") morning conversations that we watch. Or. perhaps it’s a bit of "Video Magic and All that Jazz!! (Meaning a wig to cover a buzz cut.)" Thanks so much for sharing your process as a genuinely possible achievement for others!! Cheers!

I have curly/wavy-ish hair and this is literally how I do my hair!!! I do the part thing and then twist it up! When it air drys it looks really good. I don't often wear my hair down, given its length, but when I do people always say "Oh your hair looks so nice, did you curl it?" No I just twist it when it's wet and let it dry!

Love your hair! I just wear mine in a pony tail (like for 30 years now LOL). I would love to try this product but I ran it through the Skin Deep data base and it's not "green" (safe/nontoxic) enough for me to consider, but I am an extremist as to what goes on my skin. Obviously, it wears really well on you!

So glad you did this video. I do have a couple of questions! 1. What if you didn't have a shower in your van? I find myself just living in braids because it's sometimes a couple of days before I can get a full shower in. (I generally shower at the climbing gym on training days-4ish times a week.) 2. Following up on that, I often skip getting my hair wet in the shower because it takes my hair anywhere between 8-12 hours to dry (in the winter, sometimes longer). That means I'm often dealing with baby dreads. You said you don't own a comb or a brush, so I'm guessing you don't deal with that? 3. Have you ever tried making a flax seed gel instead of using the Tigi product? (It's super easy to make, and no chemie ingredients!)
@TrentandAllie
@TrentandAllie 5 жыл бұрын
Tell me more about this flax seed gel!! And yes, I definitely braid my hair after a couple days if it’s gonna be a while until the next shower
@photographeye
@photographeye 5 жыл бұрын
@@TrentandAllie Flax seed gel is really easy to make! You take 1 part whole flax seeds to 8 parts water (I usually do 1/8 cup flax to 1 cup water to keep the batch small because I prefer not to use preservatives), and bring it to a boil over low heat, while stirring to prevent clumps. Pretty quickly, the flax seeds will start to release their mucilaginous gel. Within a few minutes, you should see the consistency you want. Remove from heat, and use either a fine cheesecloth or some (clean) pantyhose to strain into a jar/bottle. You'll want to wait for it to cool before squeezing out all of the gel. Some people stop there. I like to add a 1/2 tsp of Vitamin E oil (helps it keep longer), 1/2 tsp of either Vegetable Glycerin or Honey (both are humectants, which helps with moisture retention), and 1/2 tsp of Murmuru or Cupuaçu Butter (seals in moisture). You could also add a few drops of essential oil (lavender, rosemary, cedar wood, etc.) if you want. Keep it in the fridge, and it'll last up to 3 weeks (if you omit the Vitamin E oil, try to use it up within a week). If you want, I can add some links to where I get the less common ingredients.

Hey! Love your videos, you two are total inspo. I’m doing the curly girl challenge to help bring my curls back, I would recommend doing the “plop” method, it really helps curl definition and drying time and it takes out extra product from your hair you’ve just added. I also use no silicon or sulfates, as it doesn’t really help with curls at all and dries out our hair. Hope this helps!

I have curly hair with a bit less volume. I have a bob, actually it was a longer bob, and my hairdresser cut too much off this time and it is a bob,and my hair looks fine. I used to straighten it all the time. Now I just brush it when I get out of the shower then i apply Oribe hair supplies. They are salon only and very expensive. They sell nothing that is crunchy. I hate that kind of stuff. Even when the crunch is gone by re scrunching and playing with it, it still has build up/ Oribe has absolutely no build up. I can go a week. But usually I will wash about every 4-5 days.Once I apply my hair cream I tip my head over and I scrunch my hair. I flip it back up and I am done. If I am in a hurry I willDry it but I use the low blowing setting and scrunch my hair holding it while I dry. The whole process only takes a couple minutes because I usually air dry for 45 minutes first. But I only do this if I have some place important to go. I do reset it in the sink every day just because i am vain and if any hair is out of place or frizzy or straight, from sleeping. One thing i will add for those who have wavy or curly hair, and straighten it currently, Give your hair a few weeks to a month to adjust. Mine wasn’t real curly at first. My hairdresser says that it has memory and will do what it has been trained to do with brushing and pulling and straightening. This happened to me, but I just let it go and now it is curlier than ever. Of course I jiuist realized that my profile pic here is straightened! Ha!

Lucky your hair is thick. Mine is thin and wont grow long, but the same otherwise. Perfect demo, just like I do. Tips: For more hair volume, bend over and do the hair twirls pulling upward then let them hang down. Unlike other hair, less soap the better, and that is just to scrub out the products that have built up. A bottle of shampoo (20 Oz or so) lasts me about a year. People without the crazy curly hair don't realize the only time you can brush this hair is when it is wet and has creme rinse, leave in product. Do you also use a leave on creme rinse? On days you don't wash your hair, do you just wet it down again and reset it and just brush it with your fingers?
@TrentandAllie
@TrentandAllie 6 жыл бұрын
I use a thick conditioner that I don't fully rinse out, as long as it's very moisturizing it works fine. In between washes I avoid all moisture and water like the plague, just shake out my hair in the morning and basically let it do its own thing!

Thank you so much for making this video! The lady who cuts my hair showed me how to twirl the sections, but I ended up looking like Shirley Temple. Makes sense to scrunch up all the sections together to loosen them a bit! I am finally done with frying my hair to death with straightening all the time, only to have major frizz when the slightest humidity appears. My hair is shoulder length but I would like it longer. Maybe now, when I stop straightening it, I won't have to cut off split ends as often. Thank you!

I know exactly what you have to deal with😁 I got a double dose of curly hair, both parents had very curly hair! My routine has been the same all my later adult years. I grew up in the later 60's and 70's as I teenager and here in Oklahoma long straight hair was in style. So I used fruit juice cans for rollers. The bigger the roller the better it tamed my hair. BUT, within tne first hour at school i could literally feel my hair curling up!!! And I've loved my hair for the last 20 years or so because of easy up keep. I have to always put a gel like product in my hair or yes I would have an afro! 🤣🤣🤣🤣

Love your hair. Mine has started to get curly after I had my daughter. We both have Trents HairColor 🤪. Mine used to be a darker auburn. I use Wen products because I’m allergic to soap and gluten. 🤷‍♀️ I’ve started to go longer during washings during this lovely pandemic using corn starch and putting my hair up like the 18th century to keep migraines at bay due to south Texas weather right now. Such fun. Bet your hair would love this humidity right now. I know mine loves the moisture. I’ve been a hair twirler now for 10 years. Glad to know I’m not the on,y one out there 🥰

If I could like this 10x over I would! I have super curly hair & everyone says I’m so lucky but I don’t feel like that cuz it’s rare my curls behave. Your curls are beautiful! So trying this. And btw, you are SO brave to comb it all out like that for us to see. ❤️

In terms of hair care in general it's pretty natural, I don't chemically treat it, straighten it, or curl it with a curling iron/perm. Just let it air dry using this process.

Hey Allie! I haven't watched this I'm afraid, as I simply can't keep up with you guys; mainly because I have such terrible reception at home. I did want to comment though, because I realized as I was watching another of your videos the other day that you look like you stepped from Botticelli's famous painting: Venus on the Half-shell! Except, of course, that you're wearing clothes (nothing wrong with that!)... ; D

I only have a non-hair related question: when you take a shower do you have to take out the nature's head composting toilet? How about the wiring and the water etc. ?
@TrentandAllie
@TrentandAllie 6 жыл бұрын
yes! everything comes out of the bathroom (easier than you might think) and the wiring gets a plastic bag rubber banded around it and the open valve to protect it from the water.

Cant believe I finally found this...lol I never brush either but hate the wet dog stage as it takes about 3hrs for my hair to dry in humidity😕 I call 2nd stage "Scrunch the crunch" 🤣 Only difference is I gave up on the twirl... Also for the past year I have only washed my hair with sulfate and parrabin free conditioner, NO Shampoo and only rinse until your hair feels like seaweed, so theoretically it still has conditioner in it. My hairdresser says it the best it's ever been and I have noticed it has grown faster.

That doesn’t mean I only shower that often! lol I happen to have just washed my hair when I saw this video pop up! So I’m giving your stages a try. I’ll be back to let ya know how it went! Lol

Hi Allie, how do you get rid of tangles if you don't use a brush? Our hair type is prone to becoming extremely tangled.

I use Asiam curl defying gel. Mine isn't as curly as yours is, it tends to go more wavy in a day or two. The frizzies though! Ugh. It's very humid in the Houston, TX area, so I get lots of frizz! Man was I glad when Sally's finally reopened after Covid. I was out of my product! Other stuff didn't work for me. I would have tried your product though.

You have beautiful hair! I do something very similar except I only wash the scalp in the shower and give it a thorough rinse to get the water soluble product out. Then I put in a leave in conditioner and scrunch and then gel and scrunch. I sleep with my hair up and for 2nd, 3rd day hair I wet the frizz areas if I have any, reform (twirl) and scrunch. It usually looks even better than 1st day hair.

So you never comb your hair with a wide tooth comb? Do you think it would work on wavy hair? What kind of shampoo do you do? Do you condition?
@TrentandAllie
@TrentandAllie 6 жыл бұрын
the only time I comb/brush it would be sopping wet, and at this point in my life I only use my fingers. It might work on wavy hair, worth a try! maybe use an extra blob of the goop to help keep the curls in place. I use any extra moisturizing shampoo and conditioner, not one brand in particular. Conditioner is important for keeping it moisturized!

Trent & Allie yeah moisture is a must. It’s been so humid here in Minnesota this year I’ve had tons of frizz in my wavy hair, and little else. It’s been cooler finally and less humid, which my hair loves.

Great video Allie. I will have to try that Cat Walk hair care stuff. Strangest thing is my hair used to be naturally straight and I had to get perms. The perms would last up to 2 yrs in my hair and luckily looked very natural. Then one day it just stayed curly. Didn't even know hair could to that. Now I have a head full of curls that I love. Not to brag but I can actually blow dry it and no frizz. I get a little frizz on rainy days but actually had more frizz when it was straight. Go figure. Since you have had curly hair all your life what if one day it started to become straight? Would you be happy with that or would you want it to stay curly? 😎👍💕🐾💕P.s. my Mom's hair is straight my Dad's hair is curly.
