The word you're looking for may be 'hypnotic' which is precisely the point. Literally, the sounds are associated with putting the brain in a trance. MBV has spoken about this quality and Lush is particularly good at achieving this 'state' or at least approaching something like a trance state.

This was really cool. I was vaguely familiar with Lush. You referenced Love & Rockets. I enjoy reactions to them. And Bauhaus etc. Blessings from New Mexico

An honest reaction video (rather rare nowadays) followed by interesting comments, with the historical context of the song and the artist... Great format! You have a new subscriber.

Shoegaze came and went so quickly at the start of the 90's its good to see it come back again. Ride & Slowdive reforming is great especially the new generation getting to discover their early work, now I'm talking about shoegaze I've got to say Chapterhouse always seem to get overlooked I thought they really were a band that could have got big. You should check out the brilliant Falling down by them, a song I feel caught between the baggy of Madchester and the distortion pedal study of shoegaze

Thanks Robert. yes, I've got the 7" of 'Pearl' by Chapterhouse. They always (even back then) to have plenty of haters. Decent band. Cheers, Jon.

De Luxe off of Gala would be a good choice for another song by Lush...was my introduction to them in the early nineties in the states.

Ah Lush... mainstay of my live gig experiences of the late eighties and early nineties. Oddly I don't recognise this one. Must be getting old and forgetful...

I only thought you should give this to Andy. So you can’t count this as one of my requests. I’m telepathically sending another “request.” Has Andy seen “Withnail & I”?

Suggest trying to listen to the vocals as an instrument. Hearing/understanding the lyrics is not critical to the perception of an interesting sound. Also, "beautiful" and beauty can be many things and is not necessarily physical.

Thanks RJ. You should check out the Cocteau Twins - particularly 'Treasure' if you want to experience the most heavenly voice of Elizabeth Fraser as purely an instrument. Cheers, Jon.

Turn it down! Turn it down! I have children sleeping here. Don't you boys know any nice songs? Anyone else get a hint of Motown, possibly The Tenps, possibly Ball of Confusion or I know I'm Losing You?
