What an unbelievably amazing and very important band. Their music has stood the test of time and sounds so timeless…those first 3 albums could have been released this year! Great song, but Mercy has to be one of the standout tracks on this album. Funnily, I was in a college band back in the early 1990’s…we were crap and couldn’t play our instruments, but managed to cobble together a cover of their track Heartbeat… but actually it was us doing a cover of Big Black doing a cover of Heartbeat! So was more raucous than Wire’s original! Great times…great memories!

First band I ever saw live in 1977 when they supported the tubes at Hammersmith odeon

Wire! Love them across their discography but Chairs Missing is their masterpiece. One of the simpler tracks on the album but a perfect kick of energy for the closer.

I do enjoy early Wire , but I first started getting into them with Ideal Copy and A Bell is a Cup. The lp First Letter when they dropped the e from their name Is an under looked album. I’m also a fan of Send and the 2008 release Object 47.

Gobble Gobble Bi*****! Rock n rolling in the kitchen now boys hope you both have a great Thanksgiving. Jon do you guys eat so much you pass out too? My Mom would have been 76 today and Miss Ellen was the one who gave me the love of music. Because I was born in southern California in 66 she exposed me to great music, from Joplin,Jimi H, to Al Green and everything in between. My favorite day of the year food, football(ours) and family and I consider you guys family at this point. Loved the energy of this reminded me of early Joy Division, even Warsaw. Hope all are as thankful as I have a great day.

Strangely, Thanksgiving isn't a thing over here at all (think about it). We have to find other excuses to get wrecked (it isn't difficult); our big blow-out is Christmas. I was privileged to be invited to a family Thanksgiving Dinner in Alabama many years ago, and remember it well. Happy Thanksgiving! to you and all other Yanks on this channel!

@mikesummers-smith4091 Well Mike I'm on Mississippi Gulf Coast next to Alabama so probably similar menus. Turkey, gravy of course, green bean casserole, dressing(stuffing),broccoli w cheese, bread pudding, peach cobbler yada yada yada. If my football bets win it's a hell of a day, if not, still a hell of a day . Don't forget the Jack Daniels Egg Nog for the cook. Happy holidays wherever you are.

@@willhildebrand1313Yup, very similar. Biloxi/Gulfport? Just down the road from Mobile (OK 50 miles). What's your team? When I was there, some Saints fans would wear brown paper bags with eyeholes over their heads so as not to be recognised on TV as supporting that then gang of ball-fumbling tackle-missing incompetents.

@@willhildebrand1313 Happy Thanksgiving from the resident Yank (as a diehard Oriole fan it still pains me to say that even if it’s accurate). I love this holiday as well, for all the reasons you listed. Enjoy all it has to offer, and I will be sure to enjoy a sip of wine in honor of your mother today. Also, Go Pack Go!

@@mikesummers-smith4091 Ok Mike stay with me, I became a sports fan when I lived in New Orleans as a kid in 1977 I went to a Saints/LA Rams game Archie threw 5 interceptions and Saints were embarrassed, no matter I was hooked. Baton Rouge is just down the road and thats my college team LSU. Then we moved to Houston,Tx and saw the Astros with my maybe favorite all time athlete Nolan Ryan throw 100 mph in the old Astrodome. Andy the Orioles may win it all in 2025 so take heart look at the Lions today.

Harks back to Pink Flag. Mr Grey going hell for leather on the drums, with the guitars rising to an intensity of pure noise. Their stuff in the 2000s has been frequently excellent: maybe you could consider 'Burning Bridges' from 2015's Wire, a very nice tune from their more psychedelic end.

WIRE! I like how they sounded kind of futuristic compared to the Pistols and Ramones. I think they're one of the first post-punk acts. Although their first 2 albums (this song's from #2) sound rather punk.

The big decision re Outdoor Miner will be do you go for the long or short version ! Map Reference is my favourite Wire song, or you could go 80's with Eardrum Buzz.

@ They made it onto Into the Music channel. “Glory of Man” and “I Felt Like a Gringo.” Hoping Jon has a favorite on his list for Andy.
