I used to fall asleep listening to this. 1993 Windows open, breeze blowing, curtains moving with the sound and the feel of a summer night. Lush can be enjoyed alone or with someone, but they are an experience...

They bring me back to 91 when I was 16. Sunday night, 120 Minutes on MTV was the first time I saw them. I was astounded, and the next year was Lollapalooza and I was blown away. I am glad to hear and see them again. I hope all the videos get posted.. This was a great live studio set.

Holy mother of Lush, this has got to be one of the most phenomenal live performances I have ever seen...22 years later and it's just like the original/studio album version....the spirit of Chris is here too!!! ❤ Absolutely beautiful song...I don't know how many times in a row I played this today while learning it on guitar - what blows my mind with Lush is (especially concerning the bass parts, which on certain songs is just the same riff over and over) how actually simple what they're doing is, yet how freaking complex they can make it sound! The dual voices which have dissonant clashes at times (also more evident on other songs) just bring it all to the next level...this goes to show that what makes something magical isn't it's difficulty/complexity but the mere essence of what it's trying to convey...I feel my heart open up when letting this song and others take me away...I love you Lush, thanks for creating such wondrous pieces of sonic emotion!!!!!!! 😄

When they played this song at the Fonda the night before, (Miki dedicated it to her mum) it nearly ripped my heart out. It was just so intense and incredible. What I wouldn't give for a sound board recording of THAT show!! Amazing show from the first note to the last one.

Aquí estamos con los dos crios....bueno, ya son chavales (chaval y chavala) con nuestras guitarras de 12 cuerdas, por supuesto, y comiendo comida china o de por ahí (cosa genética, supongo). IIRC Split was a big departure from the way Spooky was recorded from what I read in interviews with the band. I believe they had done mainly live (as they would at a gig) takes for the base tracks for Split as a full band versus Spooky where it was almost all overdubs direct into the recording console and polished with effects later. The original song from Split was mostly recorded live with very little processing IIRC. Missing here are probably the many overdubs of additional instruments (e.g. string sections, massive synth pads, etc...) and cleaned up takes. But the base tracks almost 30 years ago from what I imagine would have sounded similar to this performance.

Their studio stuff is from a time when they were a tight, road-tested unit at the height of their powers. Here, they have recently re-formed with a new drummer. It's almost unfair to compare them to themselves, their previous output. Yeah, the pace got a little loose in a song that utilizes atmospheric dynamics, but its not that bad. You're going to have to forgive them the sin of playing live.
