@@JutlandAngel it sounds sad because it is. Most of the world is cold, self-centered, and detached. As an empty nester whose kids stayed into their late twenties and we enjoyed them so much. Now my 2 daughters come by with their children. My oldest has a 3 yr old and 3 month old and my youngest has a 7 month old daughter and they stay at the house every weekend. My son and his long time GF no kids yet but I know my son will be a great dad. Just seeing them as wife’s with daughters is so rewarding because we raised our kids to not just be nice and pleasant but more importantly KIND. My youngest daughter is an RN and I was an EMT and firefighter so for one of my kids to love to help people is so rewarding and my oldest daughter is the assistant principal at her old high school and my son who couldn’t get a B in high school went to a trade school and graduated with a 4.3 gpa and is doing great and his girl was accepted to Occupational Therapy at the school she wanted to go to. Everything we hoped for, our children has come to fruition. I’m 61 disabled and my adult children really help me out a lot! So that’s how my life went from poverty to comfortable and my wife retired at 56 after 35 years working for the USPS. She’s a diabetic so she has things I worry so much about. She stays fit though and I do as well with limited mobility. We need a second vehicle but we can’t afford anything and nothing new or used currently is available in my price range, but even though it took years to save I did have a down payment and our dog got cancer twice at 3 and 4 years of age and last year had 2 tumors removed so the 6 mo old pup that hated men and had been an adoption fail 2x is such a great and friendly pit bull that was supposed to be my Toyota Tacoma or Tundra. I’d do it again even if I knew it would happen. We did get her a kitten recently and they are thick as thieves those too!!!

I know the saying about the waves smashing against the cliff and this kid is a prime example of how it is best used for life and aging, not ones ability to endure. He could have let it eat him up and fester. Instead his willingness allowed him to be the pillar of strength people need. Everyone it really doesn't matter how hard you get knocked down. It's about your mentality in dealing with whatever your situation is you can turn it into diamonds or dust. It's all up to you and your resolve. Stay strong and keep your heads up. Life is hard and as long as you keep moving forward with a high spirit you will be okay. As long as you live things can change. Don't throw in medical issues because I know there is always that one person. I'm saying if you are financially struggling or going through some heavy things or maybe even you lose a loved one. Just keep moving forward.

The first one, ugh hit me hard. My husband of 23 years died suddenly when our youngest two children (twins) were 6. Then my best friend, who was also a widow and held me up through my loss, died, leaving her 11 yr old daughter orphaned. The Lowe's widower, I feel that.
