Lutetium is one of those barely heard of elements, yet has a important role in mankind.

Lutiticium yttrium scandium oxide is a neat scintillating material. As it has a built in weak radiation source it can be its own calibration source. This simplifies the use for narrow aperature radiation detectors

Nice spectrum! I only have some metallic Lutetium, I would also like to have some LYSO crystals. Anyway, great video!

Curious to hear what readings do you get from your lanthanum sample

@@allRadioactive I have a sample of Lutetium metal weighing 1 gram. With Radiacode103 and measuring inside a lead castle, I have a value of 4.76 cps, 64.8 nSv/h. Integrating for 24 hours I get about 10 thousand events for the peak at 202 KeV, 5 thousand events for the peak at 306 KeV, 3 thousand events for the peak at 88 KeV and 13 thousand events for the X-ray peak at 55 KeV.

@@AlbertoMelappioni yes, I believe the LYSO gives a bit higher activity as the crystal doesn’t shield the radiation coming off of it unlike Lutetium Metal

Have you considered doing a video on potassium-40? I think it's a fascinating radionuclide because it's so common as it makes up about 0.012% of the potassium atoms in nature.

I have already started working on a script but I am waiting for an software update for RAYSID which will increase gamma spectrum range to 3500 kev so that Potassium 40 peak will be visible 🙂

Sorry buddy but coukd you sample data a frequency range for this isotope. I will give you accreditation in my paper but alas i need more data. So ive got tritium, strontium, thorium and americium frequencies using a spectrum analoscope. Im trying to prove dr. Paul m brown. Brown had apperatis that could resonantly tune like a radio RLc circuit and output consinderable amounts due to the variable Rlc. He also prooved that a inverse wave at a higher amplitude per mass.could be nullified and no longer be radioactive
