This song was written by Delaney and Bonnie Bramlett (along with Rita Coolidge) and sung by Bonnie Bramlett in 1969. It was originally titled Groupie (Superstar) about a woman who fell for a rock star. They made love and he told her he loved her. He then left, continuing with his tour. Believing his declaration of love for her, she continued to wait on him, but he never returned. This song was also sung by Rita Coolidge, Bette Miller, and then The Carpenters. But absolutely no version was like Luther's. Like A House Is Not A Home, Luther is the master of taking an original and making it completely his!
