The mom of the group I went with was a very petite lady. We were fourth row from the front. When Marvin sang Sexual Healing, this little lady walked up to the stage with her hand out for a hand shake. He shook her hand, and she was so excited, I think she jumped higher than the stage.

Takes balls to say “Yeah, I’ll do a duet with Luther”. Gregory Hines more than held his own.
@mideastent88324 жыл бұрын
Truly - more than held his own. I didn't know he could sing like this. This is one of my favorite songs.

Not only held his own but sang the upper register, above Luthor. I mean who would even attempt that?

Gregory Hines and his brother Maurice were both performers from childhood. Maurice passed in December 2023. It wasn't hard for Gregory to hold his own with Luther, he was a lifelong performer. Look for him and Maurice performing Crazy Rhythm from the movie The Cotton Club.

Cissy Houston, Alfa Anderson and Lisa Fischer are some of the background singers in this song and they sound so beautiful together. The instrumental of this track is stunning and really shows just how good the background vocals are. Try and find it if you can and you’ll see what I mean. Sadly you just don’t hear background vocals like this anymore
