A brilliant present from my sister and brother-in-law. Difficult to age but I believe these engines were made between the early 1970s and the early 2000s.

Hi Kev. I had seen them before although not this particular one. They seem to be quite rare, only one on ebay at the moment. Cheers, Alan.

Hello Alan, What a cool engine, When I first looked at it I thought it was a Stirling engine and the water chamber/boiler was a light bulb. A great present. Take care. Paul,,

Hi Paul. I have the best sister & brother-in-law anyone could want for 👍👍 Very lucky. If you Google "Lutz Hielscher" you will find that they made a lot of different models. Cheers, Alan.

Wonderful little engine Alan. Very clever design, and unusual boiler. I guess pressed from sheet steel. Cheers Nobby

Hi Nobby. Yes indeed, a great little engine. The main frame appears to have been stamped out of thin sheet and then folded up to make the structure. As you say, a clever design. Cheers, Alan.

Very cute engine and runs really well.

Apparently there were quite a few different engines from the same manufacturer. I'd like to get some more but they seem to be quite rare.

@@RetroSteamTech it would be easy to produce these days with laser cutting.
@RetroSteamTech6 ай бұрын
@@myfordboy I imagine it would. The thin sheet parts appear to have been stamped out then folded to form the frame. The same with the base.

Hi David. I think they are fascinating little engines. If you Goggle "Lutz Hielscher" you will find that they did all sorts of different models. Although they don't seem to come up for sale very often. Cheers, Alan.

Mr. Hielscher was a nice man, I bought a engine from him, unfortunatly he died some years ago.
@RetroSteamTech6 ай бұрын
That probably explains why they stopped being made.

@@RetroSteamTech Yes it was a one man business. He fell terminally ill, went out of business and died shortly after.

@@paulhorn2665So sorry to hear that. I will be forever on the look out for more of his models.
