I can't believe it's Alan. Alan had such a great voice he didn't need to change it. I like him so much I am just glad to be able to hear him at all.

Alan L add was a goid actor, but he was cometely WRING for the part of Rick. JOHN GARFIELD would have been a better substitute for Bogart, but he would have been inadequate too -- just a bit less so than Ladd. Bogart was UNIQUE.

That instruction about pressing a sliver of soap to a new bar is one I've given many people.

If he'd bought the marriage license BEFORE they got involved, at LEAST the audience would have been taught GOD'S will for our lives. Since she THOUGHT her husband was dead, she should have married again FIRST! Lux brought us Hollywood all right.

No Bogart! No Bergman! No Paul Henreid! No Claude Raines! No Sidney Greenstreet,! No Conrad Veidt! No Peter Lorre! The original cast is IRRPLACEABLE. Everyine here is "good," but they are not GREAT. The original cast was truly GREAT -- PERFECT in fact. Also the orchestral score for the movie was at least half responsible forthe film's wonderful "atmosphere," and touching poignancy.
