Great video about this amp. I use to own a L110 I bought new in early 80's. I have been looking for a couple of years for either a L110 or L100 and just found one. These are gorgeous amps and still sound great. You can always just use the pre-amp too.

I love the look of 1970's high-end audio stuff :)

Luxman audio in the UK sadly never got the credit they should have got, i sold Luxman audio equipment in the 1975 - 1978 era, it was outstanding quality so good i still have fully working a reciever and a casset deck built like a tank but with style, they really sounded so well balanced not like the typical japanese amps of the day, yes they were a tad expensive but quality lasts, yes i have newer equipment but i will keep running them until the day they fall over, Luxman was a quality brand built to perform and looked good as well, long may they continue

Yes, I've noticed that British people generally lean towards British brands. There is nothing wrong with it, however, like you said, their are plenty of foreign, quality brands that are not very popular in the UK. Luxman and Accuphase being just some of them.

I had one of these amps, bought back in about 1979 bolted to a pair of Tannoy Eaton speakers with Dual Concentric HPD 295A. A Pioneer RT-2022 Reel 2 Reel and a Pioneer PL-570 Direct-Drive Turntable completed the setup. It looked great and sounded amazing.

Luxman must have really had a dismal advertising team. They make some outstanding vintage gear. There is some testing I have found with it in the high 60's percentile. Yamaha flagship integrated was in the 30's.

RCA speaker terminals? Don't understand your cables :-) Regards.

Not sure if I understand the question? I'm using QED Genesis cables terminated with banana plugs. You cannot use banana plugs with this amp, hence the homemade adaptors (BANANA PLUG >> BARE CABLE).

they look like Rca terminals, so I wandered why going Rca from speakers to Rca + diy part into the amp. Is there no Qed with 1 open cut end or perhaps changing Luxman terminals would be another idea, if no quality loss like this, well, why not.

great sound, is that speaker yamaha ns-1000m ?? - -

I think it is rather difficult to judge the sound from the KZbin video recorded using poor quality microphone, but I'm glad that you like it ;). These are the modified Yamaha NS-1000 M - you can find more about them here: audionostalgia.co.uk/yamaha-ns1000-bass-reflex-diy-project/

What did you do with the Yammies?

Do you mean the speakers (NS-1000) or are you referring to Yamaha amps (PC4002M) from my other video?

When people demo their amps why do keep moving all the dials , So annoying .
@AudioNostalgia5 жыл бұрын
Point taken. However, this video as many others on my channel, was a part of eBay listing for this amplifier. Consequently it was to my advantage to demonstrate that all the dials work correctly.

You're listening through your computer to something recorded on a phone. Who cares? It's not like you can tell anything meaningful about the sound of a unit over youtube.
