Samples AND tea lights they’re calling a “candle”. So you buy your mom, sister, best friend an advent calendar thinking you got her something to brighten her day every single day right up to Christmas 🥰 Why? Because you’re both so busy with life (work) But then you both realize that “fancy brand” stuff is going to end up in that drawer we all have of crap we don’t want but haven’t thrown away yet. These brands need to do better or don’t bother. It’s not like the old days. People post about this. Do better please.

The Cult Beauty advent calendar was about $270, but had a value of around $1100. Admittedly, that is a lot of money, but the value was incredible. I’m just mentioning it because there are several brands in both of them - with the important difference, that for example the Sunday Riley serum was full size (worth over $80 alone) and so was the Augustinus Bader cream. In total there were 37!!! Items, 16 were full size and the rest large luxury samples, not the sort of crap you get for free at the counter. There was a quad eyeshadow from Charlotte Tilbury, too. I bought it because there were several full-size products I always wanted to try but would never have spent that much money on. Compared to that calendar, most others seem like a ripoff. Only the Harrods one was comparable in price and value.

I got the cult beauty calendar, and it was a great value. A little too heavy on hair care for me, but I gave those products to my stylist.

The Cult beauty advent calendar was BY FAR the best calendar this year. BY FAR! I'm definitely getting that one next year. The Bay beauty calendar was a good one too!

I gasped at the toothpaste, because I just stayed in a hotel and we got that exact brand/size FOR FREE in the room!! It's like the execs went on vacation, took the free samples from the hotel room and threw them into a calendar 💀

I have five kids so can always pass on the ones I don't like and let them try them too. It's been fun on hard days to have them help me open a door and see what we get and if someone likes it.

Kopari 100% Coconut Melt is what I use to get my waterproof mascara off. It’s not too expensive, and the tub lasts a super long time. A little goes a long way and it doesn’t burn or irritate my eyes. If I get some in there, I just blink a bunch of times. I love your advent calendar unboxing and could watch them the entire year. Your reactions to the crap that gets sold in the boxes is hilarious!

It’s not whale vomit, it’s a substance called ambergris! I mean it comes from the digestive systems of whales but it’s not technically vomit. It’s smells horrid when it’s fresh but as it ages it smells really nice.

mineral oil... I have used it for yrs and a bottle lasts forever... pour a bit into your hand... rub your hands together so both hands now have it then gently rub your eye area with your oiled hands for about 60 seconds (you can see if you are done or not) then use soap and water to wash off the oil.. I only wear waterproof mascara I have watery eyes I have to... and this is the best way by far to get off the mascara at the end of the day and the oil leaves around your eyes happy and not dried out and sad ... I love watching the advent Calendars and could watch all year.. you got em then keep them coming!!!

In doing a little research, brands offer deluxe/regular sized samples in advent calendars to give the consumer the chance to try the product before buying it. If they put full size products that wouldn’t help them in the long run. Essentially full size products in advent calendars would make the calendar pricey.

Open up that Sunday Riley sample. They’re notorious for putting tiny little plastic bags inside the bottles so you get basically NOTHING. Breaks my heart they have such good products and they’re so shady.
