When you said “if you like the ‘That’s taupe’ Colourpop palette”, that was sort of doing the opposite from “drugstore dupes” and I think that was also SO useful to know, and I don’t see it often in YT. I say that as someone going on a low buy season and who owns more drugstore makeup than high end. Because the idea is not to blindly buy the most expensive stuff from the start if it’s not in your budget, but if you start in makeup from a low price point, and then gradually decide to make upgrades here and there, it’s also useful to learn what’s a great upgrade for a specific color story or product. I think there’s so much value in dupe videos to replace high end products with drugstore products and save money, but there’s also value in knowing how to upgrade when you feel ready for it and want to do it consciously and not waste your money.

Yes. yes. yes. I have faced this personally. I'll get a lower cost "dupe" but even after a year or two I still find myself only wanting the more expensive option I wanted in the first place. It's nice to have the dupe in my collection to use meanwhile since I have a very small basic collection. However, I find far more joy and satisfaction in saving up and getting the luxury option in the first place!

Just subscribed. Honest opinions on luxury palettes is what I’m after. I returned the Dior bouquet palette untouched because on closer inspection I thought it would end up being a regret, but then I was wishing I still had it to try on. Thanks for reinforcing my thoughts on this palette. Also, blurry mauve is one of my faves, wish Chanel used the same matte formula on all their palettes.

I flippin love the TF body heat quad. To be fair though, I am a light to medium skin tone so the light shade does work as a highlight on me. It’s the only TF quad I have and I’m actually wearing it today! I do agree that the bottom two shades are too similar though My go-to super fast look when I’m running late is to put the rusty shade all over my lid and up through the crease, the darkest color on the outer corner, and the highlight shade popped right in the center for some dimension.

And the best part: it's the first time I've actually found someone with a similar eye shape and similar makeup considerations who uses the same techniques with eyeshadows as I do! i love my chanel candeur et experience, all matte, nuetral. i use it everyday. i ordered the intensite 58, fall palette and very excited about it. i swatched in person and its much prettier on. (i have med skin tone.) i find that with all chanel eyeshadows, they always look much better in person.

I am not trying to convince you otherwise because $90 for an eyeshadow quad is crazy anyway, but Naked Pink is the worst TF Quad ever. I have many of them and I decluttered that one. Shame on TF for releasing it. If I had three quads and one was a total bust, I would not likely spend that kind of money on the brand again. But I do REALLY love Tiger’s Eye.

Dior has great formulas, i have a lot of their quints, much more reliable than chanel. I have an old enflame one, a great rusty all mate thing, bayadere a very orangery gold summery one, black bow for a smoky look ( yess i love the shimmery black and gray) and a limited edition golden snow, with more shimmery poppy ones but all have a deepening shade and a middle. I was surprised when i saw gold bouquet i thought it was a prank, literally to little color variation

The idea with the CT quads was to offer normal users a pre-compositioned, handy and luxurious palette that acts as a dumb reach, but with maximum impact, comparable to the glamorous eye looks worn on the red carpet. And you know what, they do exactly that for me. I have used my Exaggereyes in a hurry, early mornings while still sleepy, under terrible lighting, with a brush, with my fingers, on travels in tiny crowded spaces and my eye look has always turned out perfectly. I don't have to put any thought into it, but still look like I do. The packaging is sturdy, handy, closes tightly, fits into any tiny bag. The formular is great, there could be more colour storys for more different skin tones in my opinion, but she seems to be working on that. The shimmers are the star of the show, not for being over the top, but for being wearable, but still impactful enough. With the more sparkly, chunky shades you can even get a more special occasion look, especially with the bottom left one in Exaggereyes. :)

The matte shade in the Exaggereyes quad is similar to the shade "taupe" from the Viseart Neutral Mattes palette - same depth, but taupe is less red. I've seen photos online where they look identical, but the shades don't look identical to me in person. Adding in some of the shade "brique" to taupe makes the color closer, but it also deepens it. The CT formula also has a slight sheen to it.

For chanel quads, the color Clair Obscur is a good one! Its all neutral mattes which is not necessarily "exciting" but I really enjoy it for everyday and youre right the formula is So Nice!!!!

So is the shimmer shade in the Kaleidos Cold Brew more of a taupe than a silver? I learned the hard way that silvers look AWFUL on me and some of the promo pics make that one look more taupe and others it looks more silver so I thought it was safer to pass on it -was I correct?? 🤔

For Chanel you might enjoy Tisse Vendome or Tisse Rivoli. I love warm tones and have hooded eyelids so don’t NEED to do the whole sculpt because no matter what I do, my eyes are going to be the shape they are but my favourite it Candeur et Experience for a warm smokey eye that always stays elegant. Warm memories is a good solid shout but it’s a meh from me colour story wise

since you love the LH quad, i would love to see you try Plain Jane or House of El by Adept Cosmetics. House of El is going away 9/22 but everyone has raved about the formula this year as it being their best one. it can be worn sheerly too, but Plain Jane is full of incredible toppers/sparkles. i'd love to hear your thoughts on the brand! x

Oh i have the latest chanel quad in 58 intensite and it's so good. It swatches a bit meh but the darkest one is very buildable and the gold one is perfect. For the one that is for me is perfect is codes elegantes, i pannes that and rebought it 😂. Another one i liked is blurry green. It's incredible i mean i love that green brown look, and with a pop of pewter gold , looks great on brown eyes. I guess the brand loyalist in me comes to defend chanel, but i honestly don't :) . I didn't like the quad you have either .

The byredo fetes noir palette is a yes from the depth of my soul. It sexy in a way can’t articulate. same way corporate colors just works for you. You did influence me to buy dysco and yummy best describes the formula. Dysco is on my vanity right now (it fall) and fetes noir is a palette I would repurchased if all my palette disappear.

Thank you for showing off the Athr quads! I just missed out on the citrine quad. It sold out at Sephora the day I was going to order it, after a painful deliberation as to whether or not it was too similar to the desert sunset pallette, ugh! But the rose quartz quad is on its way to me instead and I'm looking forward to trying it soon!

I like the VB quad, but I use it to travel and love it. I also bring one or two single shimmers and this is my mattes. So I guess if you don't like matte looks...not useful.

I love love love tom ford but I agree, some of their quads are just not worth it. It’s the color, texture, or both. I also agree that a quad need to be versatile, that it needs to have color differentiation and different texture. I think you will like rose quartez, it’s one of the newest formula and it’s powder to cream goodness, with color differentiation. Smokey quarts is also fantastic, all matte but the colors blend themselves.
