My aunt said it best....she is very thankful she has her LV, and Chanel collextion from the 1990's early 2000 when thw prices were adequate, the materials were top-notch, the experience of buying new was special and really not many preloved places except ebay....she has not purchased any new luxury since 2017❤

I just got sick of myself. I thought I had kicked my luxury/shopping addiction but I realized I was just buying less stuff (pseudo minimalism) but at higher price points. I stopped buying Proenza, Ferragamo, LV and Fendi and Prada but was buying Chanel and Hermes. I realized how much money I was wasting on things I barely wore - I lived between two cities (DC and NYC) and if I wasn’t driving, I was scared to carry around certain pieces because of crime and or getting them dirty. I remember when I started selling my Chanel bags I was making insane amounts of money because of the secondary market premium and then the Hermes pieces oh my goodness even more. It was great because I got my money back for the most part but it was still kinda jarring because I realized what a superficial brat I had become. Then job woes. My entire unit of a business was sold and we were all laid off and that’s when reality truly hit me in the face. Luckily because of the sales of my stuff, I was ok money wise but it was a traumatizing time. I realized I was using my LL Bean boat and tote (medium) almost every day. Either that or these simple raffia or artisanal woven leather bags I got on Etsy. They were also less than $100. And I was happier. I then realized these more unique bags made me feel more like myself. I chose them because I liked them, not because people were telling me they were THE thing to have. And then I realized I was just a high priced pod robot person with the high end luxury pieces. And that being a walking billboard for those labels with the logos or well known designs was just as pod like as the people who dress in all Kate Spade or Tory Burch or whatever else and that it all lacked so much individualism. Case and point: I feel more like myself now and my bank account is happier. Much happier. …To each their own.

The prices were ridiculous to begin with. When you can buy a dupe (I'm not talking about replicas, just inspired by alternatives) why would you pay so much for a brand?

Vintage luxury is the only thing worth the price point anymore. They expected us to never get hip to shrinkflation -- in designers cases, worse quality and higher prices. Like, we can tell.

YSL lowered prices on some of their bags. Christian dior was found to have been outsourcing the making of their bags to china. Which all of the companies do, many of the factories in italy are owned by the chinese. The working conditions are unsafe for the workers safety devices on the machinerey was removed so that the workers could sew faster. Also , workers had to sleep in the factory so they sewing could continue through the night . I have of course seen someone trying to take up for the comapany. Their reasoning was that the company is so big they couldn't possible know about this. I call bull , they know they simply don't care about anything but their pockets.They have enough money to have their own inspectores going out and making sure everything is correct. Again , this is the excuse you will hear from people who buy the brand and want to bury their heads in the sand. If you buy from these brands once you know what the abuses are you are contributing to the abuse.

Totally agree. I do not judge folks who buy replicas anymore. Folks will say when u buy replicas you are helping “the terrorist” okay here they go with the boogie man again. I think buying from the brand is just as bad now as brands are exploiting workers with horrible working conditions etc….just buy what you like from who ever you want to buy from. It is really all very silly as these are just bags and clothes.

I feel like they are not a genuine company so I don’t want to support them. I feel like they used to have passion in design and production but now it’s just a cash grab. They intentionally set the the price that not reflect their material and labor costs but make it as expensive as possible.

I don’t understand the idea that a you tuber will not do a haul bcs someone or people in general can’t pay a rent. Not doing/showing the items you already purchased is not going to change the fact that in this world there are people that struggle. They most probably are not watching a luxury channel to start with. We are still buying luxury. The day that it will count is the day that instead of buying a bag we get a family in need the grocery that they can’t afford or help with the rent. But until then a luxury channel is not to give a lesson of life, its a called a “luxury channel “ for a reason.

Middle class globally that used to be a large consumer of luxury now cannot afford it. Middle class is struggling to have basics like housing, food, utilities.

Because actual rich people don’t need influencers unboxings & luxury brands use influencers to target the middle class, the middle class all over the world is the most affected currently under the global economy crisis. So influencers unboxings make them lose followers because luxury has become irrelevant to them and mostly triggering

Great video. I’m starting to move to lower cost brands that offer great quality. The constant price increases are ridiculous given the drop in quantity. I think Chanel is dull and boring, but if I really wanted a Chanel bag I’d just buy a super fake because I’d get a better quality bag for a 20th of the price.

I love it. Deserved backlash for stuff like Balenciaga trying too hard to troll ironic so bad. The most ironic statement is counterfeit. Or with Doja Cat wearing Vetements and it was a towel or large maxi tee in gel. Why bother wearing designer atp, it would’ve come off way more genuinely artistic if Doja Cat actually didn’t have a team of creatives come up with it for her and casually stepped out with confidence from a hotel room towel she just happened to have. It loses its luster and air of actual authenticity to push the ironic envelope in this economy.

Luxury brands keep hiking their prices because there is a demand. Stop the demand and the prices will go down or take a trip to Francd or Italy. The prices are far less. My best friend went to France in February to shop and prices were way less.

Really valid points!!! Also 🥰 because i love you. But I think you are so right, brands focusing on the customer that doesn’t care about the inflation etc. they are pivoting to those smaller things to be able to catch the people that aren’t on board with the bigger priced items. Last thing i think the “vintage” thing is very in, in the sense that they are hard to find too! Love this!!!

The Canada Goose jacket may look identical but the material/quality is subpar compared to yours. I know this because my Canada Goose jacket that I bought in 2018 has a different grade of quality compared to my friends from 2022.

You are completely right. Nothing wrong the price at there are insane. I believe no spend in luxury i teams is more intelligent that expense in luxury obviously we love luxe but vintage is an option no the ridiculous price. We love you❤❤❤❤
