When I fully retired, my $100 a week cigar budget came under considerable scrutiny from the missus. I needed to pare it down in order to preserve matrimonial bliss. After testing out most of the budget options, I settled on the Flor De Oliva Maduro. Decent blend and consistently superb construction. For a bit more, but still well under the $10 mark, The Micallef Black gets my vote.

From my Understanding AJ came up with the 5 Vegas Triple A. Although I prefer to let them rest for at least 6 months (like pretty much everything else) they can be had for under $5 a stick. I use to buy them regularly for less than $2 a stick. I don’t think AJ was involved with the 5 Vegas A but it’s pretty decent. New Worlds punch well over their price point in my opinion.

That Plasencia Reserva Real is excellent! Some of the Arturo Fuente stuff like the Gran Reserva, 858 and Curly Head Deluxe are great for the price. Hard to beat Oliva stuff for value. Their V, O and G lines are all solid. I don't think CAO makes a bad cigar and plenty of their lines are on the cheaper end.

Anything from J.C. Newman's other lines they make like Quorum, Havana Q, Trader's Jacks, Factory Throw-outs, and Brick House cigars. Great cigars, wide variety and super easy on the wallet. They are my go to anytime I need to fill my humidor with inexpensive smokes that doesn't hurt if I don't finish the stick.

I'm new to cigars, and I started off with expensive, premium cigars, like Opus X and Black Diamond, but then I quickly realized that I could not afford to enjoy those as often as I'd like to, so I've started experimenting with some budget sticks... The two I've found that I really enjoyed are Rocky Patel The Edge Maduro (lots of creamy dark cocoa) and AF Hemmingway Short Story. The Short Story is great for when I don't want to commit an hour to smoking a cigar. It burns quick, the flavors are changing constantly due to its perfecto shape, and I find i like it more and more towards the end, which is the opposite of many other budget cigars that I've had that get acrid and nasty in the final third. I definitely will be trying the cigars you mentioned in this list, as well as some of the commenters' favs!

My mantra is to look for 5 dollar long leaf cigars, buy bundles and if fancy ones come in discount buy. Enjoy what you like, pick wrappers, shapes, maybe countries of origin, tons of choices. What I find comfortable are robustos, coronas, maybe torpedos, perfectos, bigger ones for me are harder to draw smoke on a 52 and over ring gauge and take longer to finish. Have good smokes. 🤝

AF has gone down hill la lot the last few years. new smokers and hipsters ruin everything. They really aren't worth the money for what you get. Had a $350 box of special edition Opus X a year ago, none of them were rolled/smoked all that well. The flavor was meh. I've had many AF over the years and none of them I've gotten in the last 2-3 years has been worth more than $5 at best. Try AJ Fernandez, Man O' War and Ave Maria lines.

@@117johnpar Maybe 4 friends and I fired up both Opus X Lost City and Angel Share before we developed a palate. I bought each of us 1 of each and all of us pretty much agreed we preferred a Tatuaje Tattoo that had been resting for 6 months. Personally I don’t remember anything special about them to warrant spending the money again. Both of mine I had to babysit to keep lit. Funny thing about a Bugatti and a used Taurus. The Taurus is likely going to be BY FAR more reliable and have a way less hectic maintenance schedule.. There is far too many good cigars for far less money. I guess if having an expensive brand band to flex is a persons thing. But personally I would look at them like a fool. Lol

master blend 3 from Oliva is a for sure go to for me, i dont smoke on everyday so i think this works out great and also i use my "big paycheck" (the one with less bill to pay) to buy about 10 of them and smoke them threw-out the month as i have my bad days, i buy them online and they come out to be about 7 a stick which i find to be very good price for this blend.

This weekend went to a cigar shop and scored a couple of deadwood cigars that i have been wanting to try. I asked the guy for some budget options for the other guys I was on the bachelor party with . He steered me away from factory smokes and toward this newspaper wrapped premium cigars. I had the Connecticut chirchill or torro i cant remember. He made sure i tried one for myself. I was amazed at the flavors in them. Never seen a cigar like that before the protective wrapper was a spanish newspaper. If i see some again ill definitely get more for posterity.

First of all, this is the type of quality content I subscribed for. So, thanks for that. I have a few very large tupperdors brimming with disappointing "budget" cigars. I do hope that time will turn them into something better what. And despite the disappointment, I'm happy to have my "doomsday supply". Also, I really do enjoy searching for those good budget sticks. Arturo Fuentes Curly Head, I think, is one of the best values out there. Quorum is not only a classic, but a great one, in my opinion. They are what they are and they do it well. I find that good, "cheap" shade cigars are particularly tricky to find. Quorum does a great job at their price point. Another fantastic value for shade (and their Maduro blend) is Diesel Uncut. I think the under crown series deserves a mention. Particularly, when you consider that you can almost always find someone selling boxes half off. At this risk of catching flack, I'd like to spotlight the Ghurka Castle Hall habano, and Perla del Mar line. And since I've already put myself out there, some great blends make cigarillos that come at a fraction of the cost of their pricier counterparts. Some great ones are, the under crown shade, liga 9, and the series v senoritas.

Love the Reserva Original!! And the channel has become an incredible research tool for me when I'm looking at a new cigar. Just an FYI: regarding the Reserva Original: OSHA doesn't "certify" anything. They enforce safety standards for US employees. Period. That's the whole deal. You will see all manner of companies selling safety products and calling them "OSHA Certified," which is patently false. Also, OSHA has nothing whatsoever to do with tobacco, apart from enforcing standards of worker safety in the US....and ONLY the US. Thanks again for all of the amazing information!

One of my most favorite cigars ever, and I’ve been smoking since 1996, was pretty darn cheap - it was the ‘Sons of Anarchy’ cigars made by Black Crown after the show became so popular. I have been loving Kentucky Cheroots for cheap smokes. They’re not for everyone- fire cured, chopped filler, no cap. but you don’t have to keep em in a humidor, you can straight up cut em in half without any problems and have 2 shorter smokes, made completely in America, they cost like 3-4 bucks a stick at my smoke shop, it’s like 80 bucks for a box of 50, and I’m in love with the flavor. Factory Throwouts Claro are my go-to for budget. I enjoy the fact that whatever my mood, I always enjoy them. I appreciate the budget offerings put out by American Viking, Liga Zebra being one of the top cigars of all time for my husband. Tres Delinquentes is one of my all tume favorites, for its creamy cedar notes with floral hints. I find that my budget cigars really shine with longer aging. That being said, the Factory Smokes and Quorums are really not my thing. Strange how taste works!

I’ve just recently gotten interested again and have bought a few sticks and was quite surprised to see the prices are about what I remember them jumping up to 30 years ago. Apparently inflation and greed hasn’t hit the industry lately.

I’m watching from Canada where we can get Cuban cigars if we don’t mind spending the money! The construction of Cuban cigars has become terrible in the last several years, they just don’t draw! As I watch I’m smoking a Joya De Nicaragua Classico. I think they compare favourably to a Cohiba for just around $10.00 Canadian, it’s a no brainer!!! Thank you for you church work eh ✝️!

Same here in canada, quebec, I was thinking the same about the cuban's! Look like they tried to roll on their reputation while diminishing the quality
