Super inspirational and well made video. I own the "pipe version" in silver since about ten year and it is working flawlessly. Really impressive piece of engineering! Take care! Greetings from a new subscriber in Sweden

wow where did you get that lapis for 50! they're going for 200+ in working condition now
@rafaeltorre1643 Жыл бұрын
Thats working. Buy one for $50 and pay someone $75 to $125 to fix it. Or spend a year learning the trade with little tools. Working is worth way more in value because if not its just a pretty paperweight. Even if it’s NOS, it’s still not useable without being serviced by someone or by yourself if you want to take a chance of breaking something. Also remember that someone asking for something is different than what people are paying to buy them. I could ask $300 for a non working bad condition one. Or pay $50 and spend a couple of hours bringing it back to life because I already have the tools and o-rings. Then I can charge $150 for a working good condition one.

Hi there, I have two of the lacquered versions with light surface scratching - I don't suppose you know a way to buff the surface without damaging it?

I almost destroyed my needle valve trying to repair my lighter one time. Does anyone know how much gas the Rollagas holds? Great review!

Nice video, particularly since i have the exact same Lapis model. In fact, after numerous attempts to repair a leaking valve, i sat down last night and had another bash. So far, it's still holding gas. Also the plus with Dunhill, in contrast to Dupont, you don't need to shell out at least€40 for the special tool to remove the gas filler valve. Furthermore, if like me you have different model Duponts, then you'll need another valve extracting tool, as the diameters in the Ligne1 & Ligne2 are not the same. Bugger! However, have to disagree on your pricing. If you look at the market, the lacquered ones tend to cost more than the plain silvered or gold coloured ones.

Hi,i have a roblt lighter and im having trouble refilling it i thaught u might know about it

There are a few seals, but it is not magic. The one around the fill valve rarely fails. The 2 o-rings in the flame control valve are small but can be replaced by hand. The seal in the needle valve is a little more advanced, but also doable with the correct tools and patience. Overall, it is not very difficult to disassemble and reassemble

Hello, how can I get spare parts for Dunhill lighters
@BillKinsman2 жыл бұрын
The silver one is pre-1971 and is in very good condition. Someone must have replaced the adjustment wheel and the bottom filler cap because it should have a smooth, rounded adjustment wheel and two arrows on the filler cap.. I have one just like it.

Hi, what year is a rollagas stamped R 5 near the burner? Mine still functions and somehow doesn't leak.
@arturohuerta35113 жыл бұрын
Hi, your lighters look great! How did you do to clean your silver rollagas? Mine isnt completely black but it shows some oxidizing. I really enjoy this series you are posting, cant wait for the last part.

Firstly, I am really happy to hear that you are enjoying the series! Now to your question. I used some metal polish diluted with alcohol and then slowly rubbed it in with a tooth brush. It is really important to do it as mildly as possible as the silver is just a coating and otherwise you get even uglier yellow spots. I hope that was helpful!

Try some Flitz polish. It is amazing! Very little effort and virtually no material removed and an excellent result. You can find it online for about $10

I think it is palladium and not silver. I like Flitz polish. I saw it in a watch rebuilding video and I have been impressed with results for cleaning and polishing metals. I got it on Amazon but you can get it elsewhere

I believe you have one big issue. You have to replace the sponge aka pressure regulator. I’ve never repaired a vintage lighter and ever seen one that wasn’t in bad condition. Thats why yours practically doesn’t adjust at all when you roll the wheel. Thats the whole point of these! The seals can be greased and reused if it works but the sponge has to be changed unless you like a big flame unable to adjust it.

I have that blue one😊
@bassbomberstv54412 жыл бұрын
Hey isn’t that blue one really expensive? I’ve been thinking about buying this one off my friends dad for a while now. And I don’t think he has any idea what he has. However I don’t wanna lowball my friends dad, but I don’t wanna offer him more than he’s asking and screws myself. How much would you say it’s worth retail?
@sy2km2342 жыл бұрын
It’s tough to say as prices vary a lot depending on condition etc. I’ve seen similar ones sell for about $150-250. However, I paid only $50 for mine, so deals are still to be had. The way to determine the current market price would be to check the recently sold items on eBay in comparable condition and then come up with a price based on those sales. I hope that was helpful and good luck with acquiring that lighter!

Hi SY2K M, As a collector of the Dunhill Rollagas lighter, I appreciate that you have made a video about this beautiful and practical object. However, it is clear to me that you know very little about the Rollagas, the variety of models, its history or its price; and that you have conveyed some incorrect information in your presentation. I respectfully request that if you return to the subject then you do your homework before making the video.

Hey Mike, I was searching for your channel on Rollagas lighters, but I didn’t find it. Here’s an idea: relay constructive criticism with specifics. Otherwise, keep it to yourself.

I agree, but don’t tell anyone they did something wrong without correcting information and confirming you actually know what you are referring to. He made a video thats rare. Information given that no one else is doing so I don’t see a problem at all. History isn’t important if people just need to know how to fix it.
