@kimberlycabanas5131
@kimberlycabanas5131 8 жыл бұрын
Chen Zhu On some things yes, on others no. But my comment was less about the problems of luxury goods and more about the ethical priorities of the consumers of the goods. The vanity is so rampant. The desire to stand out, or to be better than others, to show off.. it just seems so trifling. Since we all know, money is power, it would be nice if the people with this kind of wealth. would use some of it to make bigger changes in the world. Don't get me wrong. I'm empathetic, I see this stuff and it's pretty nice.. but my subconscious is like a nagging mother-in-law.

***** Why do Americans always assume women want to come to their country? I'm just north of you, I can say, in Canada there aren't hurdles for minority children. We don't seem to have the same level of racism. We have lots of white women married to Asian men. It's just a great, balanced place to be. It's full of culture.

On one hand you ridiculed them for spending big bucks on learning the right pronunciation of luxury brands, yet on the other, you mocked them for their poor pronunciations. The hypocrisy here is palpable and almost makes the conspicuous ways of China New Wealth look candidly adorable.

Not only Chinese tho. More likely East Asian culture. Well, I think happiness is the key, if those things are something that make them happy in this cruel and unfair short life, so they finally able to fit in, or survive in the society, just let them. But if it don't make them happy, but they keep doing it, that's the problem, since we all know how it usually ends, yep, suicide. Idk how high suicide rate in China, but in South Korea, Japan and Singapore is pretty high. The debt trap is real.

Mrlolibre It's really upsetting because I am an US born Chinese...yet I know more about classic Chinese culture than my Chinese born cousins and even aunts and uncles. I was persistent to learn both Mandarin Chinese and Shanghainese (Shanghai dialect). Unfortunately, in Shanghai, speaking its dialect is seen as unclassy and too old-fashioned...many of the youth don't even understand it anymore. :( It might be fruitless, but I'm majoring in Comparative Literature and East Asian Studies...hoping to be part of a minority to bring back cultural heritage to a new generation.

Why do these people like versace sooo much. You can have a shoe what could costs £10 but because it has a versace or gucci logo on it becomes a £1000 shoe. I'm just stick to my nike jordans and adidas.

@BenGenio
@BenGenio 9 жыл бұрын
Come on, there should be a difference in quality. But of course you are paying for the marketing and brand name as well. Not only for the shoe. Perhaps a hand made shoe specifically made for you will cost more than £1000, and the quality will be a lot better, and you are not paying for the brand.

***** Oh oh, here we go. I study the companies and production processes before purchasing their products. I can assure you, the method and materials used in the production of Salvatore Ferragamo and Luis Vuitton shoes are not to be compared with those of Carmina or Saint Cripin's, when it comes to leather dress shoes for men. Even Wildsmith or Crockett and Jones makes better shoes at a cheaper price. But are those companies well known for their Brand like VL or SF? I guess not. Do I need to own them all to know? I think not. Who looks like a peasant now? Yep, you.

I understand what you are saying, but you contradict yourself by stating you rather purchase Jordan's or Adidas. Both which are probably 10$ to make but 100$ to purchase cause of the logo as well.

This is absolutely not a common image most people want and see here in China. I live both in Shanghai and New York and I want to let everyone know most people here even in big cities are more humble and very few would care for that gaudy Versace image. Also no one around me want to go to a classroom to learn how to pronounce French brands. We are looking at the down market 1% here who seriously embarrass my home country.
