Thanks for this video! I just got a 2011 SRX with 115K miles and it;s my first SUV, and although its a BASE model without a lot of Cadillac's bells and whistles, it drives like a dream and I'm LOVING it so far! Your video on the 2005 shows me just how Cadillac has improved its SUVs over the years...Again, thanks!
@LCR10 ай бұрын
That's awesome! Thanks for leaving s comment! The SRX'es are very nice, and even with a base model, it's still a Cadillac so better equipped than most other cars. What would you say are the biggest improvements of the 2011 model compared to the 2005 model?
@hurleygreen92710 ай бұрын
Well, as you say, my base model is still a Cadillac, and is still VERY popular and commands respect from other drivers! Big change is the ignition system button on the dashboard, and the steering wheel controls and the radio console makes me feel like I'm cruising in a Star Trek space ship, and eight speaker Bose system is second to none...the 2011 gear shift has also been upgraded. Finally, the trunk space is still huge and can carry a baby elephant if needed! LOL Mty plan is to keep this for a couple of years and upgrade it to a 2021 SRX! Many thanks again for your video...
@LCR10 ай бұрын
Very cool! Yeah the Bose systems in these are amazing. The 2021 model is called the XT5, but it's basically the newest SRX with a new name. I almost went for the XT5 but went for a pickup truck instead because I needed the utility. Great choice and glad you're enjoying it so much!

I use to change cars every 6 months because of boredom until I bought the 2014 SRX with V8 engine. I've owned it for 12 years and now my son drives it. We used it to drive from Ontario Canada to Florida min twice a year. Never left us stranded. The only money I put into it was regular maintenance. Love the comfort and power.Thanks for the upload!

Very true. This one came originally in this configuration, but was actually converted to the navigation system after the video was made.

I had to Rebuild the AWD Transfer Case, I discovered it can be switched over to 60/40. (the front wheels spin more than rear wheels) not good for road use, because it would damage Tires also make the care prone to lose control. i think it is only good for driving off road, especially sand (I don't really know tho)
@LCR5 ай бұрын
That's surprising, since the 2WD variant was rear-wheel drive. I'd expect more power would be going to the rear wheels in a 60/40 config.

Good in-depth video of this car, I believe it’s the only one on KZbin. What is your accent? It’s very thick, is it German? Some subtitles would be nice as I have a hard time deciphering the German(?) accent. Good video nevertheless.

@@LCR Hey Ruben, ik was idd aan het zoeken op SRX, ik ben op zoek naar eentje met de 4.6. Lekker zeldzaam hier in Nederland.

Hello from Tampa,FL USA!!! You do a great video and I have to say I love your cool accent!! Anyway, over here in the states these cars are actually a lot of trouble...they are unreliable and have unusual problems when they do break down...I had a 2006 CTS a 4 door sedan version of this wagon and while it was fun, it was also a major nightmare..just look up SRX and CTS problems on here or anywhere on the web..they are horrible!! If you guys over there like our Cadillac's soo much then pick a more reliable model as I'm sure parts can't be cheap or easy to get over there!!
@LCR6 жыл бұрын
Thanks Chris! I didn't realize those cars are so much trouble. The one in the video didn't have that many problems but it was always garaged and dealer-maintained, maybe that makes a difference. It's still driving well with about 180k miles. One thing that did stood out though, is that it needed a new computer which I would not expect to brake in any car. Other than that, this one had no major issues. Let's hope that Cadillac's current offering, the XT5, doesn't suffer from the problems that you described. What would be reliable models in your opinion?
@JoJoJr_563 жыл бұрын
@@LCR I have an '08 I love, and it does depend a lot on how they're maintained and treated. Mine has 85,000 miles on it and it came from Key West Florida to the tropics by boat, and it's been a great Truck, which BTW, is what Cadillac designates the early SRX model as.

Is this pretty much a hatchback Cts?
@LCR7 жыл бұрын
Not really. Although they share many components and look very much the same in the interior, the CTS is more sporty while the SRX's focus is on comfort. Driving them feels very different. The SRX really feels more like a crossover/SUV than like a CTS wagon.

This is a well worn Cadillac. This looks like the entry level SRX because it doesn’t have the navigation system. These were really great cars but the Northstar V8 gave it more punch but blown head gaskets around the 50K mark plagued the engine. GM did eventually correct the issue and it turned out to be one of their better engines. Kinda like the DC-10 blowing out the rear cargo door that severed main hydraulic lines for the airplanes control surfaces and thus rendering the plane uncontrollable and useless. Out of the 3 DC-10’s that this happened to only one was able to land safely, was fixed and returned to service. The other 2 planes crashed and hundreds of people died. The company that designed the plane knew about the rear cargo door design flaw but they dragged their feet to correct the issue until people started dying! A couple of other MAJOR accidents happened with the same aircraft type that was because of poor maintenance and not due to design flaws. (an engine breaking off the wing or a manufacturing defect that caused the engine fan disc to fracture and threw shrapnel into the tail section that severed all of the hydraulic lines. The plane later crashed) However The publics trust in the DC-10 was ruined. After all of those issues were fixed and hundreds of people died the plane ended up being a really good aircraft in the cargo industry but people had to die in order to make the plane better. With the Northstar V8 GM knew about the engine design flaw but did nothing to correct the issue until it started causing problems for the company. I don’t think anyone died because of it like happened with the DC-10 but these major companies only care about making money. If they know a design is flawed they won’t correct it until either somebody dies OR it starts hurting the company financially. Damn. I really went off on a tangent 😵💫

+Luxury Car Report yeah that makes sense. thanks 😀 is Cadillac very popular in the Netherlands? I've heard that old Cadillacs are being imported by people that like the big American looks. but i haven't heard of any new American cars being popular in that part of the world except TESLA again thank You .
@LCR8 жыл бұрын
+Nick Dovie Chrysler and Jeep used to be popular in the Netherlands. In 2008 however, the tax policies changed so that for most American cars, the sales tax became over 121%. That killed the sales of American cars in the Netherlands. Jeep is still very popular in Germany, Switzerland and southern Europe and the new Renegade is selling well in the Netherlands. Cadillac never sold big numbers in Europe, in the Netherlands they sold a couple hundred cars a year before 2009 (now it's almost nill). Tesla is popular because it gets big tax benefits (plus they're nice cars). Another brand that sells well in the Netherlands is the RAM brand. The 1500 for example can be bought by companies which barely pay any tax over it. People buy the most luxurious version (Laramie) tax-free and drive a big luxurious 5-seater with a low road tax. Kinda like the Tesla, where the biggest tax benefits come to business users. Ford is an American brand that's in the top 5 of best selling brands but it's with their European models. Most people here love the looks of Cadillacs, new and old, but for most people they're simply too expensive and not a good value considering you pay more than double for a new one. Old American cars from the '50s and '60s are very valuable over here with prices sometimes exceeding €100k.

+Luxury Car Report wow American trucks in Europe thanks for the info. 👍 I've always been curious about how American brands do overseas i loved watching tv shows like top gear because i got to see the European cars that were never imported hear to the U.S. i always seem to like small underpowered hatchbacks diesel suvs and luxury estate cars.
