I didn't notice it when the episode first aired but after learning everything, I can TOTALLY see it, now. Everything in Amity's life seemed planned and "in stone" at the start but after meeting Luz, those plans got tossed around like a bunch of sticky notes blowing in the wind

I like that is is a mix of luz making choices and luz being in the wrong place st the wring time. It is a good lesson in empathy. We know luz didn’t intend to be mean. But at this point it is what amity has seen of her.

First time they met Luz was helping with cheating in class, next time she challenged Amity to a duel only to make a mockery of it and make her look stupid in front of people that can decide the course of her future, NOW she's digging around Amity's private space for her diary, it's easy to see why that would come across REALLY badly.

One thing I love about this show is that people don’t magically flip flop. Amity doesn’t instantly go from enemy to friend, but there’s progress. Also the Bat Queen is voiced by the wonderful, wondrous, and really really weird Isabella Rossellini.

The voice actress for the Bat Queen is Isabella Rossellini, daughter of Ingrid Bergman, who was also an actress (Casablanca) and her father, Roberto Rossellini was a famous Italian director. Isabella mostly has her mother's Swedish accent. You can see her in Death Becomes Her among other movies & she appeared on Alias, where she was an Aunt to Jennifer Garner's Sydney Bristow. Isabella was also married to Martin Scorsese for a few years.

To me i took that quote as a pointed attack on parents who see their children as an extension of themself. Some people are less self awear and will not say something as blatant as their child is their second self. The parent makes choices and then the child’s accomplishments reflect on the parent good and bad. She also voices Loona in Helluva Boss and both Omochao and Blaze the Cat in the Sonic franchise. Ryan O’Flanagan, a stand-up comedian on Comedy Central, is the voice of Edric Blight. Isabella Rossellini is the Bat Queen. She also plays in Human Resources, The Incredibles 2, and The Odyssey mini series. Dee Bradley Baker (Perry the Platypus and the Clone Troopers) returns once again, and he’s the baby bats! Eden Riegel (Maggie in Amphibia) is the VA of Otabin. Sorry for leaving a 3rd comment abt Amity in a row, but damn how much this ep just recontextualised her character (can u tell she's my favourite character?). I also really love how u immediately got all those hints towards Amity's parents being sh*tty people, because while it is definitely heavily implied, I missed some of them on my 1st watch. Also, I am just now noticing a theme present in this ep of wanting to force ur friendship onto others vs letting it develop naturally, where Luz kinda has some paralels to evil version of Otabin. And looking at it like that, I find it quite symbolic that it was against Otabin's nature, he was made like that by bullies, which is kinda what happened to Luz and Amity as well.

I don’t need more of the rich bully who is being mistreated by their parents.
