Before even watching, I will say, yes! It is worth it! I paid over $700 for my gen1 e-revo and never regretted it until this came out! The gen2 is $550 at most retailers and solves many of the issues the first one had. -I've blown up countless rear ring and pinions, gen2 comes with larger, stronger gears. -I added larger tires from proline, gen2 comes with larger tires. -I destroyed the plastic axles and traxxas crappy steel axles, ended up with mip axles, gen2 comes with steel axles that are probably stronger than the steel offered for gen1. -I added a center differential, gen2 comes with a center diff. -I kept melting spur gears due to over heating the slipper, so I tightened it so much that it wouldn't slip, gen2 comes with a cush drive. I was contemplating replacing all my gen1 parts with gen2 parts, but by the time I do all that, I can buy a complete gen2!
@chasebaxter58465 жыл бұрын
What issues did the first one have?
@cam872k35 жыл бұрын
@@chasebaxter5846 Edit: I just realized I said pretty much all of this in my original post. Gen 1 was pretty solid out of the box, but one of the first modifications I did was larger wheels and tires. If I remember correctly, I went from stock 5.5" tires to 6.5" tall which is like going from 31's to 36's on a full size truck. Soon after, things started breaking regularly, starting with the plastic axles, then the traxxas steel axles. I ended up with MIP axles, and haven't had any problems with those. I also went through countless rear ring and pinion gears. I do think traxxas's casting for those ring and pinions is lacking, but the set I have now has lasted a long time, so I must've found a straight set. I also melted a couple ring gears because the slipper clutch overheated. I tightened the slipper to not slip which contributed to driveline failures as well. So of all the issues I had with parts failures, the Gen 2 has addressed. It comes with larger wheels and tires, steel axles, larger diff's and no slipper clutch. It's upgraded every part I had problems with, and is almost $200 less than I paid for my gen1 originally. I also killed a couple ring gears due to improper gear mesh due to the motor screw loosening. The new motor plate is thicker and has predrilled holes for proper gear mesh with different ratios.
@Garrysullivanjones3 жыл бұрын
Should I throw my 1000 upgrade revo version one I trash after reading this. Mine has been in storage for over 2 years because of mainly melting gear spurs , sometimes in one run before having a run, the car is plagued . I retired it this time because the spring cup broke on rear and i said this hobby is piss thanks to traxxas
@cam872k33 жыл бұрын
@@Garrysullivanjones I don't think the gen 1's are trash, I just think it was a little shitty for the gen 1's to cost over $700 US, and the gen 2's to be so much better at only $550. The melting spur gear is due to heat from the slipper clutch. I tightened my slipper spring so tight, that it doesn't slip anymore, to solve that problem. However, doing that, contributes to harshness in the driveline, so you may start breaking other parts. Specifically for that issue, I have looked at the parts diagram for the gen 2 cush drive. I haven't done it myself, but I'm pretty positive one could install a gen 2 cush drive on a gen 1 to eliminate the slipper clutch.

Only complaint I have is the graphics on the new body. It just looks too flashy for my taste. Personally liked the older bodies better. Cool thing is, you can run pretty much any other Revo body by switching out the body posts to the old ones. The X-Maxx style latching system was a great improvement non the less. Great video!

Converting my v1 to a v2 made me really enjoy the ERBE again. I ran my v1 on 4S only and had to replace the sliders 2-3 times a year due to stretching/wear/breakage of the yokes. Never even tried 6S in it. After getting a v2 roller and transferring my old motor/esc/single servo and a few other misc things, I've only run 6S on it and it's a beast of a truck. Kind of bummed I couldn't transfer my RPM arms/carriers (true track on the rear), but the stock arms/carriers are holding up surprisingly well. With the v1, I would bust the carriers or arms within a pack of run time. Unfortunately, on the 3rd bash, my mxl-6s esc died. Lasted 3 years on 4S in the v1. I replaced it with an old HPI F360C (MMv1) which got me by for a while. It was pretty chattery and would lurch on me sporadically. The old motor really howled on 6S. Not sure if it was the bearings or something else (never had it apart in 3 years), but I replaced it with an arrma blx 2050kv and increased my pinion from 16 to 18 to make up the difference in kv. I just finished installing a max6 esc in it. Will see how that does. A bit overkill, but should let me gear a bit taller yet without overheating. The MMv1 did ok and didn't run overly hot, just felt very unrefined and wasn't waterproof. I conformal coated it, but will just keep it as a spare.

Mad Man Slice First of all who is the one going out of buisness because they cant come up with one of there own ideas to save there lifes.... Arrma. You Would want more flex in a chassis so you dont have it break on half, why dont you get of your keyboard and. go outside and TRY to jump ANY rc 40 foot without breaking, it will break nomadder the brand. Traxxas works there ass of to create BEASTS, alot of engineering goes into a traxxas vehicle, Unlike arrma where EVRY vehicle they make is copy and paste!!!

the new e revo chassis has 2 bumps at where the diffs are for clearance for the much larger diffs. that is one of the main reasons why you cannot put the new diffs and bulk heads on the old chassis. the rear a arms on the new ones look like beefier extended wheel base arms.

I'd say the rods shouldn't be mixed metal and plastic, either full metal or full plastic would make it more durable. I chose to go back to stock ones on my 1/16 summit after a lot of failures with the aluminium ones. But for these i guess aluminium rod ends would work but then you got 0 flex..😵😄 awesome video, very interesting to watch👍✌ you got yourself a new subscriber😊

Especially made out of RPM plastic, those would be interesting for sure. Thank you for your subscription, I appreciate it!

Is there a kit to upgrade old to new or just have to buy a new model?

Nice.....if I didn't have the 5608 brushless I would go to the 2.0
@codybui19078 ай бұрын
I can’t decide between a brand new 5608 brushless or a used 2.0. The brand new 5608 is gonna be $500 and the used 2.0 is the same price. What do you think I should get?

I found a used Traxxas e revo first Gen for 450euros ( I live international so that's pretty high price but for where I live is pretty good price) but I also want the new jato that's 590euros brand new should I buy the jato or the revo?

the rubber piece makes it easier to hit the link button. I link all my traxxas to one remote so i didnt have to buy 4 bluetooth modules

Great video. Total novice here and wanted to send you a private message question but don't see how to here. I got a E Revo V1 for free sans batteries and charger. I got the 3s Lipo batteries and charger from Traxxas as I didn't want to start soldering on new connectors etc. Don't know the history of this car and how it was taken car of but the local hobby shop said it looks in great shape. I've run it twice and I love it! Alas I broke a shock end (replaced already) and have the shock rebuild kit ready to go in. Traxxas suggested 60w oil over the stock so I'll start there. Wondering what upgrades or major service (thinking of checking the diffs just to be sure they are full and in good condition) you think I should look at or make? Sadly also the original Mamba Monster speed controller has died. Traxxas offering warranty upgrade to the VXL 6 or I called Castle Creations and they also offered a out of warranty replacement. Thinking of going with Castle due to the 1 year warranty over the Traxxas 30 days. Sorry for the long comment.
