Great explanation, I also changed my switches, they required some minor soldering skill, as they had become bashful. Your vehicle looks so clean and bright that it makes me inspired to try to emulate it. Looking forward to upcoming episodes.

On the 100 Land Cruiser the center console is different. You need to: 1. remove the 4 M10 bolts as shown in the video. 2. unplug all (in my case 9!) connectors behind the screen-radio-climate module and remove the module completely. You cannot remove the black box (you named it one giant assembly) containing the two PCBs with the light bulbs as the last screw sits behind the PCB. 3. open the black box and remove the PCBs. I needed to cut two plastic pins going through the PCB because they made it impossible to remove the PCB after removing the two screws. Be VERY careful with the cable connectors. I could not unplug it, it was old and brittle, I pulled out two of the cables by accident but could put back in later, luckily. 4. fix the bulbs as shown in the video. 5. assemble everything in the opposite order. 6. Have minimum 6 beers to celebrate your success! One more add-on comment regarding LEDs: better go with the old-style light bulbs, as neither color, nor brightness match perfectly with the other switch backlights. Additionally the legs of the LED lights are much thicker than those on the bulbs. They are harder to bend without breaking and they consume too much space in the tiny plastic bulb holder, that it is hardly possible to click them back onto the PCB. Good luck and thank you very much for your video.

Ok you've got me curious. Did you do an installation video on how you got the single DIN headunit installed where the old cassette player used to go?
@maintainersgarage4 ай бұрын
No I did not. I have yet to finish the trim on the stereo so I did not make a video. Google "68 ohm resistor Prius" and lots of in will come up

How did You replace the OEM stereo casette player into that Kenwood one? Is it just a plug and play replacement or do You need some cable or audio adapters? Which Kenwood model is that? Thanks.
@maintainersgarage Жыл бұрын
@XPLORERPHOTOVIDEO it is both. You have to add a 68 ohm resistor to one of the harnesses so the touch screen will still work and i also ripped out factory amplifier and added my own and replaced all speakers and speaker wire. If you google "68 ohm resistor Toyota" that will give a start to see if it is a. Job you feel comfortable doing. It's not hard, just detailed job. And it is a JVC

@@maintainersgarage Understood. But from what I've read is that with that resistor plugged You loose antenna rising ability and steering wheel switches. Is that true?
@maintainersgarage Жыл бұрын
@@Xplorer.Adventures steering wheel controls yes, but there is a harness and module/dip switches that is plug and play that will work. I have it. Antenna up/down function is plug and play with aftermarket stereo. Antenna reception needs adapter and reception is POOR compared to factory. But that is the ONE downside that i found in the 5 years the aftermarket stereo has been installed. And ask me anything i will do my best to answer
