Saw Cold Blood along with Santana and 9 other groups in a benefit concert at University of Pacific in what was called the Concert for Minority Scholarship Fund. What a righteous concert. Music like this for 8 solid hours.

Of course, Cold Blood is sickly underrated. I always thought Bassist Rod Ellicott was the funkiest pick playing dude alive. RIP Rod Ellicott.

First time that I was blown away by Lydia Pense was at the Family Dog in 1969. Lydia and the band are still an amazing combo of Tower of Power, Santana and Janis Joplin. Such a powerful sound.

... ❤.. late 1960's ...🌈 Well remember the Family Dog on the beach at the end of the Presidio ... I lived in 'The Haight' / Haight Ashbury back then and later Pacific Heights ... ❤ I didn't think there were many of us now left that frequented the Family Dog or the Fillmore in the late 60s early 70s.... Loved Lydia Pence with Cold Blood and Grace Slick with the Jefferson Airplane ... Janice Joplin with Big Brother and the Holding Company ... Jeff Beck at the Fillmore ... Good Outrageous times ... The incredible uncomperable clothing from Norman's Stubbs at East-West Music Company in the North Beach section of San Francisco ... Amazing Times ... So grateful that was all good for me ... Sending all the Good Vibes and Love to all of you who are still around to remember ❤❤❤

The horn section Lydia is using for this performance is taken from the Tower of Power horn section! How's about that!

I saw them play a few gigs before they made any name for themselves. In Hayward CA they gigged with the Tower. Rod Elicott was the baddest funk player using a pick. And Lydia. Omg. What a Fox. Raw yet in key always.

Really good music still good now. They were under rated. Lydia is awesome and yes I want to make love to you. Check out more of their other albums. The song sunshine of my life can't beat that still relevant today's music timeless.

larry trejo I was mesmerized when I first saw her at a high school rally in either late ‘68 or early ‘69. They did sort of a James Brown revue and MAN she could dance! I can’t count how many times I saw them, they rarely headlined and that was ok. It just meant they came on earlier!

Thriller is a great LP. Lydia Pense took down the crowd in June of 1973. Incredible range. She barely needed a PA. system.

Cold Blood gigged with Tower of Power in Hayward CA at the Plunge Way back. Lydia was and is awesome. I miss original bassist Rod Ellicott. R.I.P. That man was funky.

The Lobstet Paul on 97.7 the River fm played this today. I saw her at a small bar the Florence in Niles about 2000 and loved her! Paul told the story of Janice Joplin recommending her for Cold Blood band.

I personally thought she was better than Janis Joplin. This was arguably one of the best bands to come out of the bay area in the 60s
