Lydia was right up there, but Janis was there too. She is one of my idols! When I had the opportunity, I had Cold Blood brought up to Anchorage to play a concert. I got to meet and sing in front of her. It was 1969! Got to chat with her in Eugene, Or., again in '97 and she was still going strong! LYDIA ROCKS!!!

In the early '70's, Cold Blood was hot on the concert circuit. On two occasions, a group I was in (The Gabe Christopher Band) had the privilege of being the "warm up" group. I was 20 at the time. We have some stuff on KZbin (see; the Gabe Christopher Band, Ups and Downs) We were the warm up band for several headliner bands including Linda Tillery and theThe Loading Zone, Richard Bean, Sapo, Dakella, Elvin Bishop, Buddy Miles, Canned Heat and Fleetwood Mac.

I've had this ALBUM for probably forever. Saw them live a long time ago. Rod Elliott was gone, but Raul...a wonderful B3 player was there, and of course, the incomparable Lydia Pense. I saw her here in Nashville about 10 years ago having lunch. Not sure if she lives here.

@MrBEB123 I saw Cold Blood live several times in 1974-1976, and I saw Janis live twice in 1969-1970 and Lydia blows Janis in the weeds! Janis had a lot of soul, but Lydia had soul to spare, and far more talent. Not to mention that, in her younger years, she was a lot easier on the eyes!
@michaelbirke60507 ай бұрын
Two different people. Two different lives. Two different backgrounds. But a shared love of music. One wonders, in what direction Janis’s career and life would have gone if she had not gotten into drugs and alcohol. You talk about soul. One was clean and one was scared. How do you measure talent. It’s unfair to compare. Watch any of the Dick Cavett interviews with Janis. They were before her addiction. She was a beautiful woman.

Me: shitfaced drunk at at a music festival: Oh, My God, Lydia, I've been in love with you for 20 years! Are you going to do Rock Bottom Blues?. It's my favorite, I love you so much! Lydia: Something like thanks for your support and I'm fucking sick of this, let's just play some music. But they did play my favorite song, Rock Bottom Blues.

You mean Janis Joplin, and I think Cold Blood came out before she died (this song hit the chart in March, 1970). I agree, though, this woman was great and very nice looking, as well. I guess timing is everything. Why couldn't both have been stars?
@brickceo11 жыл бұрын
such an amazing talent who never really got her props. I think she came out just a little to soon after Janis Chaplin died and just got placed on the shelf with Janice. Sad I always thought Lydia was better. Just a little more energy and range.
