Coconut oil (due to its known benefits for hair and skin) was the first popular oil that naturals used before trying others. I am a 90s natural and we all swore by coconut oil lol until some realized it wasn't great in their hair and started using other oils.

I used to swear by EVERYTHING Cantu when I first went natural now it doesn't do anything for my hair. I don't think it's trash like many say I just think that once you've transitioned it isn't as effective. 1.Hello hydration (Herbal Essences) 2.Eco Styler anything (my scalp can't handle it anymore) 3. Carol's Daughter...All of them ugh I was so disappointed 😥EXCEPT for the hair mask from the almond milk line. 4. All brown protein gels=dry city 5. Coconut oil...I tried to love it but had to just be real and let it go. Great for my skin,terrible for my hair. I could go on because I'm a recovering product junkie😂😂 I probably will think of more later.

One product I used to love but can’t use anymore is Eco Styler Black Castor & Flaxseed Oil Gel. I’ve found way better gels and I’ve come to realize I prefer how my hair feels with natural gels. I don’t have to work as hard to keep my hair moisturized with the natural gels. It’s health over hold for me lately!

Same, it was the one eco styler i actually liked for a full wash and go. Now i rather use a gel with actual slip and worked well with everyrhing. My new ALL TIME HANDS DOWN favorite gel is the Natures Protein Styling and setting gelee 🙌🏽🙌🏽🙌🏽

Past! The curl enhancing smoothie never did much for my hair. Never penetrated the hair shaft, just sat on top of my strands. Thanks for the heads up on the wet line gel. Haven’t used it but was definitely thinking about it.

The Wetline Xtreme Gel does make your hair super dry more drying then my Eco Gel so I just recently stopped using it as well. Plus it causes flakes on my edges and thats a no go. Love this video. PAST

Shea moisture changed the ingredients a while back. It never defined my curls. I mix it with a little bit of water and use as a moisturizer. BUT for my sons hair, It defines his waves. I was struggling with his hair for a while. I started using the smoothie in his hair every night, nothing else, and then put his little Du rag on. Soft wavy hair every morning.

Past 🚫🚫 I agree with the Wetline. I retried it yesterday and my hair feels terrible. I used the exact same products on my wash & go last week and had pillow soft curls for 8 days but added wetline my hair is dry and crunchy on DAY 1. 🙄

Past!!! All of those products were my early OG products as well, but as time goes on and new products are tried the old ones kind of get kicked to the curb. I used the Wetline gel one time and I was not impressed. I would not even want to take the chance that Wetline could dry out my hair with continuous usage. So that is the end of that gel. I have a few curly cocktails I want to try and I will be pulling out the curl enchancing smoothie one last time to pair it with my favorite gels. The Kinky Curly Knot Today was my favorite leave in early on, I have not used that for a long time. Thinking about pulling that back out too.Thanks for sharing.

The wetline dried out my hair the first time. The same with eco in the past. I am a no-gel-soft-hold type of natural at this point. In my head of hair, crunchy hold equals breakage.

Totally agree. I don't use gels. If I want some definition I use the Asiam curling cream, it gives me good definition

Wetline Xtreme is probably the worst product I’ve ever used on my hair. It literally broke my ends off lol. I used it twice and i just could not continue. I don’t know why I even tried it and I can barely read the ingredients in it 🤣😭

I had the gel and threw it for two reasons. One, it left my hair super dry and two, it contains a carcinogen called methylchloroisothiazolinone. It's very bad.

I love wetline. I use to literally use it every wash day. I stopped using it for a while this year and tried more natural gels but with more natural gels my curls weren’t lasting past day 2. So I’ve started using wetline again and alternating between doing wash and gos and 2 strand twists. On wash days when I do twists I don’t use any gel.

Past 🚫 I loved the Cantu Leave in for natural hair when I first tried it, but then it dried my hair out and caused a bunch of tangling and breakage. Apparently I’m so glycerin sensitive I cannot have it ANYWHERE on the ingredient list of leave in products. I gave it to my husband, and it seems to work pretty well for him. I still like Kinky Curly Knot Today, but I discovered diy catnip tea rinses that are sooooo much cheaper, keep tangles to a minimum all week, decrease friction between hairs all week (not right after applied in the shower though-it’s tangle prevention, not a detangler), and has decreased split ends. The KCKT had to be reapplied once or twice mid-week and it’s a lot more expensive, so I’ll use it up but probably won’t repurchase even though it was a holy grail. I know I’ve mentioned catnip rinses in your comments before, but the stuff is seriously awesome! And no, I don’t have cats following me around. XD Steeping the catnip in very hot water destroys the component that cats love.

Melinda Copper water and oil do not mix. Since water is the only true source of moisture, oil only seals my hair from added moisture and coats it. It does nothing for the overall heath of my hair. As well, I do not use cleanser that foam (sulfate or sulfate free shampoos) but only cleansing conditioners so raw oils and butter will only buildup on my hair and cause breakage. I have a simple yet effective routine that focuses on hydration and curl definition.

I cleaned out everything that comes trained sodium hydroxide, phenoxyethanel, methylchloroisothiazolinone etc. It was exhausting and I don't regret it. Now I am using Dr Bronner's castle soap for. Head to toe.

PAST- Wetline dried my hair out horribly a few Winters ago. I had to do several weeks of deep conditioning to get my hair back together. Since then all these videos coming out reviewing it make me cringe...just a little, lol. I wouldn’t gift it to my worst enemy. Elucence Moisture Balancing Conditioner used to also be my go to leave-in, but caused brittle hair overtime.
